Beth jumped over the counter, trying not to fall onto the body. She checked it's pulse. "Is this a joke?" Nothing. There was no pulse. The thing was dead. Suddenly, a light groan came out of it. It started to move its lower jaw. Beth threw herself back, away from the thing. It started to sit up, then stood onto its feet, heading towards Beth. She tried pushing it back, but it was no use. It was stronger than her. "Sir! Get off of me!" It was stupid she thought it was alive, considering it just didn't have a pulse.
Beth pushed the thing as hard as she could and then fled. "Why was it still alive even though it had no pulse?" Thoughts were buzzing around her head. She ran as fast as she could back home.

She returned home, panting like a dog. "What happened? Did you get attacked?" Maggie asked, holding Beth's hands tight. "I... I don't know! I went to the shop, there was no one there. I peered over the counter... there... there was a body-" Beth stopped to take a breath. "There was a body. I checked the pulse and there was none. But then, it got up and, and tried to eat me!" Maggie laughed. "What's so funny? That I nearly died?"
"Like zombies? Hah. You're delusional. There is no such thing-" Maggie stopped. A piercing scream was heard from the barn where Patricia was. Maggie, Beth and Hershel all ran out to see what was going on. When they arrived, it was too late. Patricia was being eaten alive by the same thing that attacked Beth! "PATRICIA!" Beth called out, Maggie held her back. "You weren't lying... They're real."
