Phoenixkit~

Phoenixkit squealed, passing the moss ball that he was playing with to Flamekit, one of his brothers.

Last night, Bluefoot, one of the SolarClan queens, gave birth to five kits: four tomcats and one she-kit.

Even though they weren't allowed to watch, and the five kits couldn't play yet, they were only one moon older than Phoenixkit, Flamekit, and Sootkit, the three tomcats given birth by Blazestrike.

I wonder what we could all do together when we are apprentices! Phoenixkit thought excitedly, impatiently waiting for Flamekit to pass the moss ball to Sootkit, then to himself.

"Hey Phoenixkit, lets play warriors!" Flamekit squeaked, ditching the moss ball.

"Yea! That sounds like fun!" He smiled, as Flamekit's eyes shined, their almost identical pelts shining like orange fire in the warm sun.

"H-Hey guys! W-What about me?" Sootkit, the smokey black runt, asked, wanting to join the older two.

"I don't want to play with the runt." Flamekit wrinkled his nose at Sootkit, as the small tomcat flinched at his mean words.

Phoenixkit growled. "Let him play, Flamekit! Its not his fault he's small." Phoenixkit objected immediately, glaring at Flamekit.

Of course, both of his siblings listened and respected him because he was the oldest.

As Blazestrike, Phoenixkit's mother, came out of her den, Phoenixkit and Flamekit forgot she was watching.

"You did the right thing, Phoenixkit. You have the spirit of my mother, Burningstar." His mother purred as Phoenixkit flattened his ears, embarrassed.

He was just being fair to his siblings, why does Blazestrike always praise me? Its not fair to Flamekit and Sootkit!

"Anycat would do the same." Phoenixkit muttered under his breath, too quiet for Blazestrike to hear, as Flamekit flattened his ears.

"Ok.... Sootkit, you can be the warrior, and Flamekit and I can be the mice." Phoenixkit offered, trying not to sound awkward as Blazestrike padded back into the nursery.

"Okay!" Sootkit agreed, as Flamekit nodded.

"I bet you can never catch me, I am the rabbit of the moors!" Flamekit boasted.

So full of himself. Phoenixkit rolled his eyes as Sootkit ran for Flamekit, Phoenixkit went into the Elder's Den to hide.

"Hey there-" A once pretty blue gray she-cat greeted, yet was interrupted.

"SHH!" Phoenixkit hissed at Riversong, but he quickly regretted it. "I'm hiding from Sootkit." He whispered to Riversong, though the other elders purred in amusement.

"Seems like this youngster found a great hiding place." Mumbletooth purred.

"Would you like me to tell you the time I killed a fox?" Mousetail, the youngest elder, retired early, due to his lose of sight asked.

"Yes please!" Phoenixkit squeeled happily as Mousetail started the story...
