Chapter 3

//many hours later//

During the ballroom dance, everyone is enjoying the time of their lives as they eat, drink some punch, and danced to the music. Everyone...except for Mario. Mario sat on his throne, looking around the crowd to hopefully see Maria. He felt terrible for what he did and he still felt it, which was killing on the inside.
Then he sees that Luigi and Y/N arrived, which Mario stood up and went up to them and him and Peach greeted them.

"Hey bro. I thought you were working late today?" Mario said.
"Oh I was, but my boss let me get off early." Luigi said.
"That's great. So...have you two seen Maria today?" Mario asked.
"I have. She visited our house while Luigi was at work. She dropped off some spaghetti for us and it was delicious!" Y/N said, which made Mario feel even worse.
"Speaking of Maria, is she here? We tried to call her but all we got was a voicemail." Luigi said, which made Mario worried. He begins to head to the exit.

"Mario? Where are you going?" Peach asked.
"I'm gonna go get, Maria. I'll be back soon." Mario said as he headed out of the exit, which made Peach worried but Luigi and Y/N are confused.

Mario walked to Maria's house and went to the front door. He knocks on the door but then he sees the door slowly opened by it's self, which made him worried. He went inside and he was horrified to see the living room. Everything is destroyed...
Her TV is smashed, the couch was flipped over, the coffee table is broken, and the picture, which is Luigi and Mario cheering for Maria as she won the smash tournament, was smashed. Broken pieces of glass went everywhere and Mario noticed a big black X over Maria's face with a permanent marker. He quickly went to the kitchen, which he sees a bunch of broken dishes, the food thrown everywhere, and even sees the container of spaghetti on the floor.
Mario teared up as he heads to Maria's room, which is destroyed as well. The posters were ripped, her clothes were thrown everywhere but most of them are missing. Then he sees that her phone is damaged and sees that her trophy, the one she won at the tournament, was broken into pieces on the floor, which Mario sees a sledgehammer as well.
Mario calls out for Maria but got no answer. But then he noticed that the window in her room was left opened, which made Mario's heart sank. He quickly ran out of the house and starts to run back to the castle. At this point, it started to rain and it ruined Mario's outfit, but he didn't care.
He bust through the doors, which made everyone jumped and looked at the plumber.

"M-Mario? What's wrong?" Peach asked but Mario didn't answered as he tears up.
"GUARDS!!" He calls out, which the guards immediately came up to Mario.
"We need to start a search party immediately! Maria is missing!" Mario said, which everyone gasped and then Peach, Luigi, and Y/N became worried.

"Yes, your highness!!" The guards said before they head off to get the rest of the guards.

"Mario, what's going on?!" Luigi asked as he begins to tear up.

"It's my fault....I-it's all my fault!" Mario said as he begins to cry, which Peach comforts him.

"Your fault? What do you mean?" Luigi asked, which Mario was hesitant at first to tell him, but he has to.

"I....I yelled at Maria.." Mario said which, as he expected, Luigi immediately got mad.

"W-Why?! Why did you yell at her?!" Luigi yelled, which Mario yelled back.

"Because I was frustrated okay?!! I was so frustrated today and being the idiot I am, I took my frustration out in Maria!!" He yelled before beginning to cry again.

"I-I think she ran away....it's all my fault..." Mario said, which Peach, Luigi, and Y/N comforts Mario again as all the guards ran outside to look for Maria or any clues where she might be.

Mario looks outside as he begins to feel worried again.
"Maria....p-please be okay.."
