Chapter 4

//Meanwhile with Maria//

Maria ran through the woods as she gets soaked from the ran, but she didn't care about the rain or the cold.
As she ran through the woods, her backpack got caught by some prickly vines. She tried to get it out but ended up getting cuts on her arms and the vines tear off some of her sleeves. She sighs and continues off through the woods, leaving her backpack behind. As she walks through the woods, she began to feel tired from all the running and from the cold.
But she just want to get away....

As she kept moving, she heard some branches breaking, which made her terrified. She began to run, which she heard the footsteps getting faster.
Then she trips into a puddle of mud and hit her head against a rock, which thankfully didn't caused too much damaged, but she's slowly getting unconscious.
Before she blacked out, she sees a large figure standing in front of her but Maria didn't see much as she went unconscious.

//Later//

Maria groans in pain as she slowly wakes up. She no longer felt cold anymore, which when she woke up and her vision became clear, she noticed that she's on a bed. Maria was really confused as he she tries to rub her head since it hurts, but felt some bandages on her head, which made her even more confused.
She was about to get up when a magikoopa appeared, which made Maria jumped and scooted far back on the bed.
"G-Get away from me!!!" Maria yelled.

"Relax, I'm not gonna hurt you." Magikoopa said, which made Maria confused.
"Just sit here for a moment while I let the boss know that you're here." Magikoopa said before he leaves the room. Maria looks around the room and sees some torches and she can see the lava outside through the window. Sure enough, she's in Bowser's castle. But...why is she here?

Maria heard the door opened and jumped when she sees Bowser, who's holding a tray with some tea, sugar cubes, and some cookies.
"Hey, Maria. How are you feeling?" He asked as he sets the tray down on the coffee table.

"M-My head still hurts but I'm feeling okay.." Maria said, completely uncomfortable.

"Oh, that's good." Bowser said and now there's silence between them.
After a moment of silence, Maria broke the silence.

"W-Why am I here?" She asked.

"I brought you in here when I saw you at the woods. You hit your head on the rocks and you've been unconscious for a few hours. If I didn't found you, you would've been cold to death or maybe die from blood loss." Bowser said, which made Maria scared as she remembers hitting her head against the rock.

"....would you like some tea? It should help you calm down a bit since you must be still in pain and a bit shaken up." Bowser said, which Maria nods. She hesitated at first but agreed for some tea anyway.
Bowser got the tea ready for her and gave her some cookies too since she must be hungry.

"If you need anything, just pull this rope to ring the bell, okay?" Bowser said as he shows her the rope.
Maria nods and then Bowser leaves.

After Maria finished her tea and cookies, she glances at her clothes, which are dirty from the mud and rain and her sleeves are torn up from the thorns.

She sighs and then she noticed a door in her room. She opens the door and sees that it's a bathroom, a very clean and very nice bathroom.
She reaches to the rope and pulls it, which she can hear the bell ringing underneath her.
Few moments later, Bowser shows up.

"Yes?" He asked.

"U-Um...do you have a-any clean clothes for me to wear? S-Since...well..." Maria points at her clothes, which Bowser understood.

"Kamek is getting some clean clothes ready for you. There's towels in the bathroom when you want to take a shower." Bowser said as he leaves. Then moments later, Kamek shows up and gives Maria a clean dress for her to wear. The dress is black and red, which Maria isn't a fan of but it'll have to do for now. She thanked Kamek and then she headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

After she's done, she dried her hair and brushed it before she puts on the dress. The dress surprisingly fits her pretty well. Kamek knocks on the door, which Maria answers.

"Why, you look beautiful, Maria. Here, I brought some shoes for you to wear. Bowser is downstairs so if you want to talk to him, he's downstairs." Kamek said before leaving.
Maria looks at the shoes, which are heel shoes but the heels aren't that tall so she's okay with wearing them. After she puts it on, she begins to walk downstairs, carefully because of the shoes.
When she made it downstairs, she sees Bowser watching TV. When Maria walks up to Bowser, Bowser noticed that she's here and pauses the movie.

"Hey Maria-" Bowser was cut off when he sees Maria wearing the dress, which made him blush a bit.
"Bowser? Are you okay?" She asked, which Bowser snapped out of his thoughts as he clears his throat.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." Bowser said before he looks at her again.

"I just want to say thank you for helping me." Maria said with a little smile, which Bowser smiles back but his smiles fades away a bit when he soon thinks why she was out there in the first place.
"You're welcome but....can I ask you something?" Bowser asked, which Maria nods.

"Why were you outside in the rain and in the woods in the first place?"
