Chapter 2

((Time skip to the dance))

It's now time for the dance. Mario and Peach got ready and dressed up for this moment.

"Are you ready, Mario?" Peach asked but Mario didn't reply as looked at himself in the mirror and started to tear up.
"Mario, are you alright?" Peach asked, worried about Mario suddenly started to cry.

"I'm such a bad brother, Peach....I yelled at Maria because I was so angry and frustrated and I took it out on her....she hates me now...." Mario said as continues to cry.

Peach hugged Mario to comfort him.
"Mario, she doesn't hate you. She's just very lonely and she only wanted to be with you and Luigi. She's just really upset that you three don't spend time together as you used to." She said.
Mario didn't say anything.
"Listen, when we see her today, I'll be sure to let you apologize and then tomorrow, I'll take care of the kingdom and take care of Mark for you so that you can go spend some time with Maria." Peach added.

Mario smiled and then he kissed Peach on the cheek.
"Thank you, Peach." He said.

The guard Toad walked into the room.
"Your highnesses, the dance is about to start." He said.
Peach held Mario's hand as they are heading out of the room.
"Let's go, Mario." She said as they walked to the ballroom.
Mario sighed as he walks to the ballroom but he needs to apologize to Maria for yelling at her.....

((Later))

Almost everyone showed up to the dance. Everyone is having a great time as they danced, ate some delicious meals, and drank some fruit punch.
But as Mario is eating, he was looking and still hasn't seen Maria yet. Soon Luigi and (Y/N) walked up to Mario and Peach and greet them some "hello's" and some hugs.
Luigi noticed that Mario is acting a little strange so asked: "What's wrong, bro?"

"...N-Nothing, Luigi. But...have you and (Y/N) seen Maria? She hasn't shown up yet." Mario said, only for Luigi and (Y/N) to shake theirs heads no.

"We haven't seen her ever since she visit our house in the morning." (Y/N) said.

"I tried to call her but she hasn't answer." Luigi added.
Mario soon started to feel even more worried that he got up and started to head towards the exit.
"Mario, where are you going?" Peach asked.

"I'm going to see Maria, Peach. I'll be back soon." Mario said then he went outside and then he walked to Maria's house. But when he walked to the front door, he sees that her front door is open.

He opened the door and he's horrified when he saw the living room.
Her TV is damaged.
Her bookshelf is broken.
The couch cushions were thrown everywhere.
And the picture frames are broken.
Mario picked up one of the picture frames on the ground, that is a picture of Mario, Luigi and Maria...
But then there is a X mark on Maria's face in the picture with a marker.
Mario puts the picture down and ran to her room.
Her room is also damaged.

Her drawers were left opened but her clothes are missing, her smash bros tournament trophy is broken, her tennis rackets are broken, her phone is severely damaged, and the only thing left was her hat on the floor. Mario picked her hat and he started to breathe heavily and begin to cry.

D-Did she....ran away? No.....NO!!

Mario quickly ran out of Maria's house and ran back to the castle. At that moment, it started to rain hard. The rain ruined Mario's clothes but Mario didn't care about his clothes at this point.
Once he made it back to the castle, he burst through the doors.
Everyone turned and looked at Mario as he is breathing heavily and crying.
Peach, Luigi, and (Y/N) quickly ran up to Mario.

"Mario, what happened?! What's going on?!" Peach said.

"S-She's.....She's gone.....she's gone...." Mario mumbled but they heard him.

"Who's gone, Mario?!" Luigi asked.

Mario didn't say anything as he showed them Maria's hat, they all gasped in horror and started to tear up.

"GUARDS!" Mario called out to the Guard Toads.
All the Guard Toads quickly showed up.
"Begin the search party! Help me find Maria!" Mario ordered.

"Yes your highness!" All the Guard Toads said as all them head outside and begin their search.

"Mario, we'll help you find Maria-"
"No."
Mario cuts off Luigi's sentence.

"I'm the one who did this to Maria. I'll go find her as well." Mario said as he heads outside.

"What wait? What did you do, Mario?" Luigi asked.

Mario sighed....he knows that Luigi is gonna be extremely mad at this.

"I....I yelled at Maria today..." Mario said.

"WHAT?! What did you say to her?!" Luigi asked.

"I told that we'll never have time to spend time with her and....I told her to grow up and do something on her own...." Mario said.

"WHAT THE HELL, MARIO?! WHY DID YOU SAY THAT TO MARIA?!" Luigi yelled.
"Luigi, calm down!" (Y/N) said as she tries to calm Luigi down.

"I WAS FRUSTRATED, OKAY?! I was just really mad and as a freaking idiot I am, I took it out on her! She didn't deserve that! I was just so frustrated that I wasn't thinking straight!
That's why I'm going to help them find her and I won't rest until I do." Mario said he walked away from the castle.

Luigi started to cry after Mario left. (Y/N) tried to comfort Luigi even though she was crying as well.
Peach stood up and walked up to Mario.

"Mario, take Luigi and (Y/N) with you. I'll take care of the kingdom and Mark." Peach said.
Mario nodded and then Luigi and (Y/N) went to follow Mario.

Time to go find Maria and bring her home.
