"If we never had the courage to take a leap of faith, we'd be cheating God of a chance to mount us up with wings to watch us soar." (Jen Stephens, The Heart's Journey Home )

I've been blessed with a good career in IT back home. And although I am grateful for the opportunities presented of moving up the ladder and getting promoted, there was one thing I've kind of felt I was regretful from.

You see, there were moments where I felt having to lead a team seemed too soon for me. I know I had to do it because it was based on a current need of the company, but a part of me felt that I didn't grow as much as I wanted to technically in any special language. So I have always had that dream of being able to learn and specialize something from the ground up.

I know it may seem like a weird dream coming from a person who already had experience managing people, but for me in a way, that made sense because it's not always about the destination. Sometimes, it is about the journey. I felt that I want that sense of satisfaction of being able to learn it on my own and perform well based on my new-found skills and abilities.

For years, I forgot about that dream. Until one day, God reminded me of that dream when I stumbled upon an opportunity through my internship.

One thing lead to another, and now that internship turned to be a permanent job for me. And now every day, I feel that sense of satisfaction- that I am able to show the world what I am capable of.

When I was at a cross road waiting for any news about potential internships, despite the uncertainties brought upon by the pandemic, I lifted all my worries to Him and prayed, "Surprise me, Lord".

And so He did.

He used the same passion I had with automation, 10 years ago.

He used the same dream I had years back.

He turned Covid to an opportunity, one which my current company would never have thought of opening their doors to anyone who is four hours away from the main office or to students as an internship opportunity that can turn out to be a permanent job offer.

Imagine that! How a simple phrase of "Surprise me, Lord" can become a powerful tool and a declaration of faith that opens the flood gates of His infinite love and grace.

So dear friends, don't be afraid to give God that chance to surprise you. He is eager to make your dreams come true.

In the end, God never forgets your dreams, even if sometimes you do. 😊
