Sometimes we forget how interconnected we are from others. We neglect the fact that we live in an ecosystem where our actions are likened to a droplet that drops in a sea of water, causing ripples of unimaginable proportions. In that regard, can be a powerful ripple that can echo throughout generations. One which, most of us take for granted.
The second part of my story comes in the form of my sister's best friend since College. Mind you, the age gap between my sister and I is 8 years. And yet God had a way to resonate my sister's relationship with her best friend and my parent's relationship with my sister's best friend to my life and my story. How great and mind blowing it is, that God places these people in the life of your loved ones, only to impact my life as well, two decades later?
And what's amazing is the fact that it always seems like a wonderful coincidence that my sister's best friend just happen to be always in the same foreign country that I am. Like in College, I had my 6-month internship in Singapore, and she was already working in Singapore for quite some time, so we crossed paths then. And even a decade or so after when I set out for Canada – she's already a Canadian Citizen and our paths crossed again!
What's even more mind blowing are the conversations we had when I stayed in their home for a month in Canada when she shared that she knew my parents well. She knew that they were very strict, yet kind hearted to my sister and treated them as her "secondary parents". She even went on sharing several encounters she had with my parents like how she got to stay in our house for quite some time, rather than having to commute long hours to her own hometown while she was studying in College.
Granted that it may or may not be a long time (the details of which I am not entirely aware of), but the fact that that relationship lingered – to the point that she opened her home to me, when I needed a temporary place to stay, made me wonder how amazing it was that God has placed these special people in our lives at the right time and place in the past – only to activate and use them as God's instruments for you to marvel at the fact that God has written your name in the palm of His hand then, now and even in the future.
Makes you think: If God has thought about you and His plans for you as far back as you may be aware of, what is there for you to be afraid of in the future?
