Six years earlier: the first date
'I'm so sorry. I don't wanna be rude, but I have to go soon. I'm having a flight early tomorrow morning to Italy with my brother.' Olivia was out for drinks with her date in town. She was really enjoying her night so far. He was really nice and easy to talk to.
'Can I see you again soon?' The charming man smiled at her. Olivia didn't hesitate and nodded her head. She really wanted to get to know the handsome man in front of her better. 'I can't wait to take you out on a date again, Olivia.'
'I'm looking forward to it, David.' She blushed under his gaze.
'Let me walk you outside.' He stood up and walked up to her. She looked at him with a questionable look on her face.
'Also a real gentleman, I see.' Olivia giggled as he pulled out the chair for her and handed her the coat she brought tonight.
'I'm gonna pay for us real quick. I'll be right back.' David said and she nodded. She watched him walk towards the bar and she felt little butterflies in her stomach. Was this what falling in love felt like? She hadn't had much time to think about it as he walked back to her and guided her outside with his hand on her lower back.
'Are you going to be alright?' He asked concerned, not liking the fact that she would go home alone at night in the busy town.
'I will take an Uber, so don't worry about it. I will text you when I get home. I had a lovely night and thank you so much for the drinks. So I guess I will see you soon then.' She said, suddenly feeling a little insecure. She wanted to turn around to find her Uber when she felt him grab her hand.
'I really want to kiss you before you go.' She looked at him and felt a weird, warm feeling in her body. A feeling she was not familiar with.
'What are you waiting for?' She smirked, not knowing where she got the sudden confidence from. He slowly cupped her face with his other hand as he closed the gap between him and slowly kissed her lips.

Four years earlier: the first crack
'I didn't like the way you talked to that guy.' David huffed when the two got back home after a night out with some friends of David. The two of them just bought a house together recently, wanting to take their relationship to the next level. Recently the couple had more fights and she hoped that this new chapter would change things for the better.
'Am I not enough for you?' He slammed the door with so much force behind them, which made Olivia cringe.
'Of course, you are! You know how much I love you. You are the only one for me.' She said to calm him down, he was scaring her right now. She had never seen this side of him before.
'You just like the attention, aren't you?' David was chuckling and shaking his head, he couldn't believe her behavior from earlier.
'You are a little slut. That is what you are.' He screamed at her and grabbed her arm tightly, pulling her against the wall, making her yell out from the pain.
'Let go of me, David. You're hurting me.' She hissed in pain. 'And I'm not a slut. I don't appreciate you calling me a slut when all I did was have a friendly conversation with him.'
'It looked more than just a friendly conversation to me. Even my friends noticed that. You should think before you act next time.' He yelled as his hand palm collided with her face and walked away to grab something strong to drink. Leaving the girl slide down to the ground in pain and unbelief about what just happened, even feeling a little ashamed of her actions. She touched her face where his hand had been a few moments ago, feeling her cheek sting. She felt numb. Little did she know that this wouldn't be the last time.

Three years earlier: the breakdown
'Olivia! Where are you?' Fabio stormed inside and frowned at the door who was still open. 'Why didn't you answer any calls? We have all been trying to get a hold of you.'
'I'm here!' Olivia yelled from the bedroom she shared with David. Fabio quickly walked up to the stairs and saw the reason why he couldn't reach her, her phone lied broken on the floor. Then he looked at his sister, who looked hurt and broken.
'What the hell happened here? Did you guys get into another fight? Are you okay?' He asked concerned. Fabio knew that the couple had some issues lately.
'Why are you here?' Olivia spoke softly, looking up at her younger brother, her make-up all smudged from crying. She didn't want her younger brother to see her like this. She quickly pulled down her sleeve, so he wouldn't notice the bruise that was starting to form on her arm. David was in a bad mood today and he took it out on her again. Olivia noticed Fabio take a deep breath, hating the fact that he was the one delivering the bad news.
'David was in a car accident, he didn't make it. I'm so sorry.' Olivia looked at him with bewildered eyes.
'This has to be a mistake.' Olivia shook her head, not believing her brothers' words. She remembered him taking the car keys with him when he walked out of the door just two hours ago. She had yelled at him that he shouldn't take the car cause he had been drinking again.
'His car went off-road and he hit a barrier at full speed. He's dead.'
Olivia felt confused, all kinds of different emotions hitting her all at once. Sadness, anger, guilt, and even some sort of relief. Sadness, cause he was her first and only love and they had some really good memories when they first started dating. Anger, cause he had been that stupid to take the car while he was drunk, creating a very dangerous situation. Guilt, cause she was the reason he had gotten in the car. If they hadn't gotten into another fight, maybe nothing would have happened. Relief, cause now he couldn't hurt her and their unborn child anymore. Raising a child in a toxic environment like the one she was in was far from child-friendly. Olivia hadn't told him or anyone yet that she was expecting, scared of David's reaction, feeling like he force her into an abortion.
'Let it all out, sweetheart. I will be always there for you.' Fabio held her close as she started to break down.
