Jeena's Point of View
"I don't know what you've done to DJ, but you need to fix it."
"What?"
"You heard me. Get your sorry ass here to America and fix my friend."
"I haven't spoken to her in weeks."
I groaned. "Exactly! She's been so much more mature, and... weird! I hate it! This is not the DJ I became friends with. If you make amends with her I know she will come back to being her old self."
I heard him sigh on the other end. Andy was watching me on the phone with George with sad eyes. He came here last night for a surprise. DJ was out getting lunch for us.
"Maybe if she turns on the radio later, she'll change." He said quickly.
I frowned. "What?"
"Crap," George said, almost like he shouldn't have said anything. "Uh, nothing. Forget I said that."
I heard the front door being opened. Andy stood up fast so he could distract DJ and make sure she didn't hear me on the phone. I was quiet for a while, hoping he would say something else that would give me answers.
"I have to go. You better fix things quickly, mister. Stop hiding out." I angrily hung up the phone and sat in the chair I was in for a few minutes to calm myself down.
When I walked out, I saw DJ's face with its usual no emotion. She was in the kitchen sorting out the different foods she had onto plates. "What did you find for us?"
"Tacos." She said. "I hope you're up for it."
"Sure." I took the one DJ was handing to me, and walked over to the coffee table in the living room, sitting on the floor.
"What are we watchin'?" Andy asked.
"I don't know. Maybe we should just watch a movie or something. Nothing is ever good on TV anymore." I said, scooting over to the stack of movies we had.
We were very indecisive picking something to watch since every time I pulled something out both of them said "whatever you want, doesn't matter."
Eventually, I gave up and picked something I didn't even care much for. It was very annoying having people surround me who wouldn't decide for themselves when I had no idea what to pick. I got up to check the thermostat while the intro was starting since it was a little warm.
We ended up sitting outside on the deck when the movie was over to get some air. DJ caught me staring at the ashtray on the table.
She laughed. "You've been doing well, you can light one up."
I eagerly watched her pull out the box she had been keeping away from me. She also tossed me my Bic lighter.
"I'm proud of you, hun." Andy put an arm around me.
"Thank you. I can already tell my sense of taste is getting better. Those tacos... whooo." I stuck out my tongue with my mouth open wide and dramatically blew out some air. "I'll be having the shits tonight. Andy you'll want to sleep in a different apartment."
DJ cringed. "Ew, Jeena... That's disgusting."
I shrugged and stood up. "I'll be back, I need water."
When I went back inside, the phone rang not long after. "Hello?" I said when I picked it up.
"Hi honey, it's mom." I smiled hearing the familiar voice on the end.
