A year and a half, for some people that's no time at all, but when your young it feels like so much longer and so when Tyson fell to his knee in the middle of a heart made of candles by the pond they walked together around Mindy shrieked and said yes. She hugged and him and they held a long slow kiss.
This past years had felt like dream. They had moved in together and loved staying up too late to watch tv cuddled together. Until something belonging to Tyson would start poking her from behind anyway. Then it was impossible to pay attention, but there was more to their relationship than that.
Tyson had truly become her best friend and confidant. She confided in him with everything and he was always very supportive. Whether it was the trauma from her past relationship or fixing things with her mother. (Who she was actually seeing from time to time now. It did help that she was just dating one person and he was a nice boy from church.)
After their kiss broke they looked into one another eyes.
"Care to dance?" Tyson asked.
"I'd love too."
With a couple of taps on his phone Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud started playing. It may have been a little basic but that didn't stop it from being sweet. The two held each other close and swayed and continued to dance for awhile longer. Neither wanted the moment to end but, they eventually walked back to the car and headed home. Mindy kept looking down at the large diamond on her finger whenever she stopped looking at her fiancé. She almost couldn't believe it. Almost. She did decide to wear some special lingerie tonight. Just in case. Now she wanted to be in the front door of their apartment more than anything and finally they had arrived.
