I've been sitting by myself at the bar of the ski resort I'm at for maybe the past hour and I'm only on my second drink as I've been drinking them very slowly, not because I can't afford more, I'm simply just sad very sad.
I arrived here yesterday but this is not how I imagined it to be. Yes, I am an idol, im also in the most successful female kpop girlgroup and I have an enourmous group of friends, Ofc I do but this month was supposed to be the happiest time of my life but it's been anything but the happiest, probably the saddest.
I even had this amazing outfit that I wanted to wear but it has no use anymore so it's on my bed back in my resort room
My sad thoughts were cut short when a new drink was placed in front of me. It's what I've been drinking but I didn't order it.
"I didn't order that" I said to the bartender.
" the gentleman over at that table ordered it for you" he said back to me in his deep accent while pointing at a man, around my age maybe older but not by much, he has an faded two block haircut and a beard that's very little almost like a stubble.
Our eyes caught each other's and he smiled as he lifted his drink, looks like whiskey of sort, and tilted it at me before looking away. I knew what he wanted though and it's not going to happen and I'm going to tell him straight so I picked up the drink he got me and made my way over and sat across from him.
"It's not going to happen" I said. "What's not going to work exactly?" He asked me. By the way his accent sounds, He's a Native English speaker.
"Your little game. You see a girl alone at the bar and you buy her a drink thinking it'll make her come over here and sit with you and eventually lead to something. Well it's not going to happen"
"Hmm you might have a point but may I say something?" He asked and I nodded.
"You are sitting with me"
"Yes but, but, I was coming over to tell you that it's not gonna happen" I said unknowingly pouting.
"So you're trying to tell me that, you decided you'd walk all the way over to me, sit down with me, with the drink I bought you, just to tell me you're not going to do exactly what you did, despite me never actually asking you to come?"
He's right me. And I have no reply at all.
"May I explain my part now?" He said. I nodded again.
"Earlier I saw you come here alone and despite being in a place like this, you had a look of sadness on your face. The same look you had when you walked in here, also alone and the same look you've had for the hour you've been sitting with the same two drinks. People don't usually come to places like this alone. Now I was simply sending a drink over as a kind gesture having noticed you were sad, Though you coming over and sitting with me is a plus Indeed, you're an extremely good looking girl but I wasn't expecting taking you back to my room for anything. But of course, you can choose whether you'd like to believe that and if not I wouldn't be offended if you took the drink and sat back at the bar" He spoke with utter confidence.
"Hmmm, maybe I believe you but you're alone are you not?" I said
"You are right, I am here alone but I am one of those people who like to travel alone" He said shrugging. I looked at him for a few seconds and took my first sip of the drink he bought for me.
"I'm Roseanne Park, though most people call me Rosie" I offered him my hand.
"It's very nice to meet you, Rosie. I'm, Y/n" he replied as he took my hand.
Y/n and I spent probably the next two hours drinking and talking to each other, it felt a lot longer. He's twenty six, a gemini and he told me that although he is English and grew up in New York and has English parents, he was actually born in South Korea as his mother was a Plastic surgeon and his father was a businessman in Korea. Y/n himself is the odd one out of the family, his parents love him just as much tho, as his sister who followed their parents footsteps and is a Doctor herself, but Y/n's passion was always photography, he said he was always good at school and passed everything at the top of his classes but he just didn't have that passion for science or meds like his parents and sister. Y/n instead went to Art school but was always encouraged by his parents and never felt they were disappointed and now he has the money ready to open his own photography studio and is just looking for the right place. So things worked out for Y/N.
As I began telling Y/n about me, I decided to give him my birth name ( korean one) Park Chaeyoung and not Roseanne, and I don't mean to sound braggy, I didn't want him to treat me different than he already had been as I was really enjoying his company as he didn't seem to recognise me. I also told him that I am an aspiring singer in a girlgroup and yes I know it's sort of a lie but I'm lying about me, so🤷🏻♀️.
"So tell me, Park Chaeyoung, why are you here alone?" he asked me after I told him a bit about me.
"Well I was not supposed to be here alone. I was supposed to be getting arranged married a few days ago" I admitted to him.
"Wait Really? Is this, or wait was this supposed to be your honeymoon?" he asked shocked and I nodded.
"What happened? If you don't mind me asking" He asked nervously, which made him look very cute I won't lie.
"Three weeks ago I was on my way home from dance practice and saw my fiance's car outside. I thought it was odd as he wasn't supposed to be home yet but I just brushed it off. I went inside and he wasn't downstairs so I got myself water from the fridge and headed up and I could hear noises coming from our room, I walk in and there he is, my fiancé of nearly four months having sex with another woman in our bed, but it wasn't just with some woman, no, it was my bestfriend of almost 9 years, which honestly hurt even more than being cheated on"
"I'm sorry that happened to you Rosie" he spoke reaching across and taking my hand.
"So I called off the wedding and got them both the hell out of my life. Another friend of mine told me that coming out here would be a good thing, have some time away from everything and if I didn't come it would've been a huge waste of money" I explained.
"And is this A good thing?"
"Well not yet. I stupidly forgot about the Honeymoon Suite, they couldn't change it and now I keep seeing both of our names on everything, and it's only day one"
"That's right, but there's plenty of time for it to get better"
"Only problem is, I don't even know how to ski" I said laughing at my tipsy jokes.
"I could teach you" Y/n suggested.
"You know how to ski?" I asked
"Yes, I've been skiing since I was about 15"
"Okay then. If you're offering." I smiled.
"Great. 8am sharp alright?" He said smiling and getting up while leaving a piece of paper behind. With his number and a winky face, this was definitely a start, Not sure to what but I'm liking this.
