Loki's Goddess

Chapter 33

Once he is sure you are gone he returns to his room where he's been tinkering with the Tesseract for the last few months. Practicing different ways to harness its power. all without you knowing. At this point he has managed to intertwin it with his staff and when he grabs the staff he can feel the power surge through his body. His eyes burn a bright blue with each wave of energy. You don't know it yet but the power is releasing something dark inside his body. A few days later you are down in the training center trying to sharpen up on your knife skills when Loki enters.

"I believe I could be of some assistance with that my pet."

You let out a small laugh and nod your head in agreement. He pulls his daggers from his sleeves and you begin fighting.

With each strike of the metal you notice his eyes begin to be brighter blue than normal. You try to ignore it and focus on his moves as you dodge his blade.

He manages to knock one of your knives from your hand and he laughs. "I believe I just gained the upper hand."

"We will see about that," you smirk back. You continue fighting but his movements are becoming faster and faster. Making it hard for you to dodge him. Suddenly he kicks you against the wall and you drop the other knife.

He pounces on you with both daggers across your neck. The look in his eyes sends a chill through your body. His eyes burned bright. the knives feel as though they will break your skin at any moment.

With a quick breath you say, "Loki."

The color in his eyes return to normal and he releases his grip. He takes a step back looking at you with a slight concern. "Sorry my love. I guess I got caught up in the moment."

you step away from the wall rubbing your neck, "evidently so."

He looks down at his daggers with a sad look in his eyes.

You walk up and grab his face. "It's fine Loki. I was just kidding. You know I don't like it when you take it easy on me."

He gives you a smile back. "How about we call it a day and go get some food."

You smile and nod. He wraps his arm around your waist as he walks you out of the training room. But you can't help but think about the way he looked. What was that look in his eyes?

A few days pass and you start to notice a small difference in Loki's demeanor. He seems to get angry easier, he's spending more time than usual in the training center alone, he locks himself in his room for hours during the day. Even when he kisses you it has a harshness to it. When you question him about it he just brushes it off and changes the subject. One day you decide to see if you can get any information out of him or see if he's trying to hide something.

"You know we are always in my room but I've never even seen yours."

He quickly turns to face you and has a look that you can't quite describe.

"It's nothing exciting I assure you," he says.

"Oh come on Loki, what are you hiding in there," you ask with a smile trying to get him to open up.

"I don't have any secrets darling."

"Then why not invite me for a sleepover at your place."

He snaps back, "I just don't want anyone in my space Serenity." His face hardens as he glares at you.

"Geez, I was just playing. Calm down," you reply. Trying to keep your voice steady.

He gets up and swiftly walks away.

Now you have to know what he's hiding in there.

The next day you hide at the end of the hall waiting for Loki to leave his room for his daily workout. You see the door open and quickly hide behind a wall so he doesn't see you. Once he is out of sight you run over and try to open the door but it's locked. You manage to unlock it with your powers and step inside.

The room is just how you imagined it. Very dark with a very minimalistic tone. You search the room for an answer as to why he's been acting so strange. You turn to the desk and see something glowing under a blanket. You rip the blanket off to reveal his staff glowing with the tesseract inside of it.

"What the hell," you say softly

You reach your hand out to pick it up when you hear the door close behind you.

You turn to see Loki looking straight at you with an enraged look on his face.

"What are you doing here?" The tone of his voice sends a shiver through your body.

"The better question is what are you doing with this and why have you been hiding it from me?"

He slowly walks toward you as his eyes begin to burn brighter.

"I thought I told you to stay out of here."

You reach out your hand as a peace offering. "Loki talk to me. What is going on with you? Is it the tesseract making you act differently?"

He reaches past your hand and picks up his staff. Staring into the glowing tesseract at the end.

He looks at you as he presses the tip of the staff against your chest. It sends you flying across the room and you crash into the wall and hit the floor. You lie there for a moment trying to wrap your head around what's just happened.

He approaches you. His face is almost unrecognizable. You lock eyes.

"Loki," you say with fear in your voice.

He presses the staff down on your neck and laughs. "Stupid woman. You should know better than to defy me."

You use your powers to push him far enough away that you can stand up.

"Loki," you yell at him. "Snap out of it. This isn't you."

He starts charging toward you. You hold him back with your powers as a tear falls from your face.

He points his staff in your direction and a beam of light comes right for your face. You quickly hit the ground barely avoiding the blast.

You look toward the door expecting someone to charge in from the noise but there is no one.

"They aren't coming to your rescue darling," he says with an evil smirk. "I've placed a sound barrier around this room. It's just you and I. Now get on your knees and plead for mercy."

You gaze into the dark voids that were once his loving eyes as you try to enter his mind. He's blocked you out.

"Don't make me do this Loki," you say with a trembling voice.

He races toward you once more but this time you send him flying across the room. The staff lies from his hand and lands a few feet from him.

You run over and start using your powers trying to destroy the tesseract. He goes to stand but you hold him off with your other hand. A black flame shoots from your hands.

Suddenly the tesseract explodes with a bright flash.
