So two weeks ago I finished writing the last chapter for this book and my brain processed that as me finishing the book as in "I can take a break and work on my side projects before going back to rewrite the first few chapters." I was gonna start doing that just now and saw the multiple drafts leftover. I'm an idiot.

Marty was checking up on the ramp where the DeLorean was being set up. You were sitting in the middle of the track with a blanket around your figure.

You were hardly even there. Eyes, staring off as your fingers barely gripped the lantern.

You haven't thought about your future since you got stuck in the 1800s with the Doc. Thinking you were safe since you weren't even in your original timeline.

You couldn't even remember if you were livid with Marty or if he found a way to persuade you into thinking he had it under control.

You couldn't tell if you were mad at that moment.

Doc approached you with a lamp and set it down by your feet as he crouched beside Marty.

"Marty."

"Yeah?" Marty panted.

"I made a decision. I'm not going with you tomorrow."

You were suddenly snapped out of your thoughts upon hearing his announcement.

Marty chuckled.

"I'm staying here," Doc spoke firmly, wiping the small smile off of Marty's face.

You shook your head and slowly took the blanket off. "Doc, wh-what-..."

"What are you talking about?" Marty finished for you as he angrily stood to his feet.

The Doc followed and spoke in a low tone. "There's no point in denying it. I'm in love with Clara," he confessed.

You had trouble recognising the heavy feeling in your stomach. We're you upset or were you happy for him?

Marty voiced your unidentifiable emotions. "Oh, man. Doc! We don't belong here!" He argued. "Neither one of us!"

The Doc was unable to respond.

You stood from your spot and picked up the blanket.

You couldn't believe it.

"You know, it could still be you that gets shot tomorrow!" Marty pulled out the photograph. "This tombstone could still be in your future!" He practically shoved the photo in your old friend's face.

The Doc grabbed the photo mid-air. "Marty, the future isn't written. It can be changed. You know that."

Marty sighed.

A loud slap was heard from behind the doc when you angrily chucked the blanket into the dirt.

"Bullshit!" You tried to scream, though it came out in almost a wheeze from your attempt to stop the tears from flowing.

Your sudden outburst shocked both your friends. That was the second time you've sworn out loud in your life.

"You were the one who's always saying that we shouldn't intervene with our past and here you are romancing some- some woman who's not even supposed to be alive!" You cried out.

Unlike before, it was the Doc who came over to comfort you. Marty simply watched with an unreadable look.

"Y/N, anyone can make their future whatever they want it to be. It's true, Clara was destined to fall off but-"
