sequins and silk spun
from molten suns and
pulchritudinous satin
midnight, strawberry blonde
hair leaving trails of nebula
dust that trailed to the
edge of the milky way.
her eyes stole the beauty
and dimensions of the
universe and the ones
beyond it. when she ran, she
looked like she was dancing.

now she is

a falling asteroid iced with
cold depression and self
doubt and dark gloom,
hurdling toward a small
blue and green planet at the
speed of shooting star,
for that was all she was now

as she grows smaller,
orion gets colder
