[Lol y/n's not gonna be Calysta Bevier in this story don't get your hopes up. But damn they sing good-]

"A talent show!?"

"Yeah, and I think you should join." Jake said to me.

Why would I, y/n, be in a talent show! That's just seems so weird. I'm not doing it! I'll never-

"I'll date you if you do."

...im doing that talent show.

Singing, dancing, neck breaking aka gymnastics, what will I do? I've always been a good singer, so let's do that.

[Skipping was fun as a child, so let's do it now]

A girl in a black hoodie with braided hair tied up in a ponytail walked out. She had on jeans and some white tennis shoes. She was holding a mic in her left hand, her right arm relaxed. Her skin was tan and she has brown eyes, I think. I was in the audience so I couldn't tell that well.

"Hello, and welcome to Jabberwock Highs annual be somebody talent showcase. I'm Sasha, the student director here for the drama club. Our first act consist of the Bryan sisters who will be dancing."

The sisters danced on the stage to some weird song about Christmas? It was weird. Then there was an acting challenge, singing, inventions, boring stuff in general.

The host had been on stage, the curtains open, talking to someone.

"Bro you know it's not illegal if you don't...get...Oh! Uh I didn't notice my mice...yeah...here's y/n"

I walked onto the stage, slightly terrified. I had been given this weird mic that wrapped from my pocket to my face. They said it was so if I chose to dance, I could.

"H-h-hi. I-i-im-"

"G-g-get on with your act!" Someone shouted in the audience. Some people snickered, others didn't care and just laughed out loud. I looked in the sea of people and found Jake. He was sitting there with his arms crossed, ready to hit someone. I flushed at seeing him and decided to get on with the show.

"Uh...I'll be s-s-singing Fight Song by Rachel Platten." I waited for the crowd to quite down, and they did. I took a deep breath in. [I wonder how Platten feels knowing her song is a meme.]

I walked around on stage, listening for the music to start.

I exhaled and started singing

Like a small boat
On the ocean
Sending big waves
Into motion
Like how a single word
Can make a heart open
I might only have one match
But I can make an explosion
And all those things I didn't say
Wrecking balls inside my brain
I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time
This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes~
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me

I lost myself in song after that.

When I was done, no one was clapping. It was silent. Jake looked pissed. I ran off stage, crying.

"Don't listen to them, your voice was beautiful." He said. [He's right. Don't listen to them. You can't! They literally aren't even booing you that's when you know you're bad.]

"T-t-thanks..." I said in my timid voice.

I walked outside. I heard people walking and chatting.

"No mommy! I want the red car!"
"You're literally stupid."
"My name is not America! It's Amari! They just typed it wrong ok..."
"Let's just skip and go to the square."
"Hello I'm your local school gum dealer-"
"And he had drugs!"
"*Literal fucking moaning* stop daddy!"
[If you moan in school hallways, I'm respectfully telling you to die in a hole and you wanna say your straight stop-]

I felt a warm feeling on my hand. Was that...it is. It was a hand. I looked down and saw it was Jakes hand.

"I love you, y/n."

"I-i-i l-love you t-too."
