The last thing Cansas had wanted to do when she woke up this morning was hop down into the sewers and get covered in nasty water and grime, but thanks to Loki going off and killing some research scientist, she had to.
And despite trying, she still couldn't tell the Winchester's about him. Her teeth basically glued themselves together so much she thought her teeth would crack under the pressure.
Even though they had all agreed to split up, Sam had insisted she go with him. She'd tried to get a reason out of him, but after seeing Dean give him a look that said "good luck", Cansas decided to let it go.
Better to suffer with company.
"You really think we're gonna find an alligator down here?" Cansas gave a disgusted sound as she spotted a dead rat floating in the brown, almost grey, water. She turned her flashlight up away from the water that looked like it held a million and one diseases as she continued to trudge through it.
"I don't know what to think, but something killed that guy," Sam said, sounding just as disgusted as she felt. Cansas gave a deep sigh, turning her flashlight down another dark, dank tunnel way.
"Maybe I should head down that way? Cover more ground?" She suggested, hoping to pry a reason as to why they went down here together. Sam turned to look back at her, something like panic in his eyes.
"That way's a dead-end, see?" He said, pulling out a map of the tunnels under the college from his pocket to show her. "We'll get outta here faster if we keep going that way."
"Uh-huh," Cansas said, eyeing the obviously nervous man up and down. Without any warning, she turned her light onto his face, making him hiss and cover his eyes. "What are you doing, Winchester?"
"Nothing--"
"That's a big fat bullshit lie." Sam tried to open his eyes again but wasn't successful. "Do you think I can't handle an animal if I find it?"
"No, I never said that." Sam swatted her hand away, making the light fall from his eyes. "I just--I need to tell you something."
"Why couldn't you have told me back at the motel?"
"So you wouldn't rush away." Cansas narrowed her eyes up at the giant of a man.
"Are you trying to murder me?" Sam's green eyes narrowed right back at her.
"What? No--Cansas, listen. This case is crazy. You agree, right?" Cansas nodded slowly, not knowing where this was going. "We don't know what's going on and we need help." She felt her heart nearly stop in her chest as she realized what he was implying.
"Sam, you didn't." Her voice came out smaller than she had wished, making Sam's eyes widen. He took a step closer like he might comfort her.
"I know things aren't good between the two of you right now, but Bobby's been doing this a lot longer than us. He'll be able to tell us what's going on here." But Cansas knew what was going on!
It's the fucking janitor!
"I want to fuck the janitor!" Was what Cansas was allowed to all but scream out. It came out so fast she didn't have any time to stop herself. But once out, she stood like a fish out of water.
How was she going to explain that?
Sam stood up straighter, his eyebrows knitting together tightly. Something like--hurt, flashed in his green eyes. No, no, no--
"What?"
"No--I--that's not what I was going to say."
"Then what the hell else were you trying to say?" Sam snapped harshly. Cansas' back tensed up as anger rolled around in her chest, like a leopard ready to pounce.
