"Shh" He whispered to me as we tiptoed across the cave towards the entrance, or well, for us, it would be the exit.

I kept my mouth shut for most of the walk, I really didn't want to be torn apart by one of those crazed monster things today, you know?

I could see that familiar light of a torch burning up ahead. Who even bothers lighting something so dim in a place like this? And why next to the entrance?

Huh...I guess I did find this place because of it. Without it, I wouldn't have fallen down that hole to go explore...

Was that light a curse or a blessing in disguise?

"Parker, are you sure you actually want to come with me...? I mean, you are about to leave a lot behind if you do..."

Before I could get an answer out of him, he quickly slapped a hand over my mouth, proceeding to pull me back towards a wall behind him.

I wasn't left confused for long when I heard a sudden screech coming from outside of the cave.

. . .
Ohhhh no...

Parker hid me behind him the best he could manage when the creature was slowly approaching us. Very faintly, I heard him whisper:
"Don't...move."

Don't move? That, I could do. I practically freeze at any moment of fear, so how hard could this be???

The monster stopped walking when it was about face to face with him, snarling a few chirps. It looked like they caught a few rabbits, judging by what they were holding in its bloody hand.

It was like a stare-down, neither of them moved, and neither of them looked away.

Of course, Parker did stand his ground, snapping a few chirps and growls back. But I feared that only made things...worse?

The thing swooshed its hand up and around his neck, pulling him away from where I was standing.
The grip must've been strong, because he immediately started to squirm around, yelping in pain like a puppy that was just kicked.

I wanted to keep standing still, I thought that maybe things would be alright still, and that maybe Parker still had things under control.

But then I heard choking noises coming from him.

That thing was fucking killing him in cold blood, and it was getting the job done fast.

I needed to do something.

"HEY!" I yelled, stomping my foot to grab its attention.
The monster immediately twisted its head around, almost like an owl, to face me. Thankfully, it dropped Parker.

Unthankfully, it started to growl at ME, then letting out a bloodcurdling screech afterwards.
Parker was still on the ground when it started to charge straight at me.

"WWAAAAAAHHH!"
I began to bolt away from the monster, where was I running to? I had no idea, I just hoped I would survive the chase, if that was even possible.

My eyes couldn't focus on anything, everything in my vision looked blurry, and when it wasn't blurry, everything looked the same.
It felt like I was running in a never ending maze, a place that would quite possibly be my tomb.

At least, that's what I thought at the time.
