It's Ok To Be Yourself

My Birthday came quicker than expected, I got out of bed earlier then usual it was around 8 am and I headed off to the store to buy a pregnancy test.

"Ah I see you and your girlfriend have been busy" The cashier said, I looked up to see who it was and it was Kian.

"Kian!" I exclaimed quite happy to see him.

"Happy birthday kiddo, sweet 16 aye" I smiled at him and blushed of embarrassment.

"Thanks idiot.." I mumbled.

I payed for the test and then grabbed it and went home. When I got home Luke was awake pacing back and forth in front of the front door. When he heard the door opens I watched as he stopped pacing and hugged me instantly, I giggled at his reaction.

"I was gone for 10 minutes-" I told him kissing his cheek.

"Well I woke up without you next to me!" He fought back.

I rolled my eyes at his statement and snook off upstairs. I had drank a lot of water before I left the house and it had all started to affect me.

I went to the bathroom and took the pregnancy test putting on the lid and putting it into a small box wrapping it up with wrapping paper.

I went down the stairs back to my curious boyfriend and told him to put the present somewhere safe so that I could open it when Kian arrived.

It was half past 6 when Kian finally arrived, before I opened my presents we ordered some pizza. I had Margarita, Luke had Hawaiian and Kian had Pepperoni.

When the pizza arrived we all had a small argument who was paying, in the end Luke ended up paying for all of us. I rolled my eyes at him and took the boxes into the living room.

We all ate in a comfortable silence.

When we finished, we cleared up and put the boxes in the bin. It was finally time for my presents. Kian gave me his first and I slowly opened it scared that it was going to be some sort of a joke present, but instead I got necklace that opened up, it had a picture of us three in it. I then opened Luke's present which was a beautiful bracelet.

"Ready for the final one..?" Luke asked me.

I gulped and nodded my head, "ye..."

I shakily took the box from him and opened it up, I took out the test keeping it face down.

"3.." said Luke.

"2..." Kian finished.

"1..!" They said together.

On number 1 I turned the test around and read the screen that said 'pregnant'. I smiled uncontrollably as I covered my mouth with happy tears rolling down my face.

"Is that good or bad..?" Luke asked me anxiously. I showed him the test and he instantly hugged me giving the test to Kian. Kian read it out loud.

"Pregnant. Wait does that mean you are or you aren't having a child?" He asked dumbly.

"We're having a child!" I told him. He instantly joined the hug. We stayed in the group hug for which felt like hours.

We finally parted and Luke wiped away my tears causing me and Kian to giggle. I sighed still giggling slightly and eventually calmed down.

"Can we watch a film to wind down?" I asked them.

"You're the birthday boy you get to choose what we do!" Kian told me.

"No, that's not fair on either of you so we all get a say in it" I said sternly.

"Ok we'll watch a film" Luke said.

I smiled and got up into my little armchair that I of course claimed. The other two sat on the couch and as per usual Luke asked, "why don't you come sit with us?" This time it didn't protest, I wrapped the blanket around me and went over to Luke.

He gently pulled me onto his lap and I lay my head on his chest drawing shapes with my finger.

"What do you wanna watch?" Luke asked.

I yawns and shrugged, "put on what you and Kian wanna watch I might go to sleep here" I told him. He nodded his head and kissed my cheek.

The TV started playing a film but I was slowly slipping into a slumber. That was until my phone started ringing, I got up off of Luke and Luke paused the TV.

I answered the call. It was once again my mother...

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!" She yelled. I exhaled sharply.

"FOR THE LAST TIME PAIGE IM NOT YOUR CHILD ANYMORE AND IM NOT A GIRL!" I yelled frustratingly.

"THAT'S NO WAY TO TREAT YOUR MOTHER!!" I heard my dad yell. my heart stopped. Time stood still. My dad had betrayed me. After everything, he's gone and betrayed me.

I started to get visions not even 2 minutes apart of both my mom and dad, good times and bad times. I tried to grab a glass to get water but my shaky hands made me drop the glass causing me to scream.

Luke and Kian came running in and Luke realised what was going on, he quickly hung up the phone and put it in the top cupboard where I couldn't reach.

"Shh..." he told me softly, keeping me in a warm embrace. Kian looked concerned but didn't ask. I hugged Luke back trying to hold back my tears and building a wall so I couldn't cry anymore.

I wiped my tears and faked a smile, "I'm ok.." I said unsurely.

Luke looked at me and knew I wasn't ok but he just left it at that, kissing the top of my head. I gently pushed him away and went to our room. It's strange how just 2 people I used to love could ruin my day.

I lay on my back with my hands on my stomach where I had another human inside me. A small smile crawled onto my face, I went onto my side and took one of Luke's pillows hugging it as if it were he.

It smelled like him. I let the scent of my boyfriend's pillow lure me into sleep.
