The King's horse came to a halt, he jumped off and then held out his hand to help me down. I smiled at his handsome face before springing lightly to the ground. The huge solid doors swung open to reveal Audric and Jackson.
"Welcome, welcome my dear friend." Audric cried as his eyes lit up with happiness. He embraced the king with an endearing hug. I looked across at Jackson, who hadn't noticed me yet, he rolled his eyes and looked across at the King with hatred.
"It's a real pleasure Audric." Carsen said laughing and turned towards Jackson. The two nodded at one and other and shook each other's hands.
"Oh yes, I found something of yours in the forest I believe Jackson," Carsen said as he put his arm over my shoulder and smiled at me. "You should take more care of your staff Jackson, don't you think, especially one as beautiful as her, it's lucky I was the one to pick her up, who knows what could have happened?" Carsen said this in a patronising tone as if he was more superior to Jackson.
"He's right Jackson, this was careless of you." Audric exclaimed, agreeing with Carsen.
"Honestly it was nothing to do with..." I started,
"It's not your fault, Jackson should have taken more care over you. We shan't speak of this again, for your own good my son." Audric declared severely. He slapped Carsen on the back and placed his arm around his shoulder and pulled him towards the entrance hall, leaving me standing opposite a very angry Jackson.
"God I hate his guts." Jackson cried watching his father laugh at one of Carsen's jokes, he ran his hands through his hair in frustration.
"He seems like a really nice guy." I admitted.
"He's a right piece of work, do you hear me?" Jackson said while he was staring at Carsen with a menacing look.
"He was really kind to me and..." I began
"He's a king and your just a servant... So honey don't get your hopes up." Jackson said sharply
"That's not what I meant, I meant that..."
"Just forget about him okay?" Jackson snapped.
"Well I'm sorry but he is a better king than you'll ever be." I exclaimed angrily and stormed past Jackson and ran up the hard stone steps.
"Tania wait." Jackson cried chasing after me. It didn't take long for him to catch up with me and when he did he jumped right in front of me.
"Look," he started, running his hands through his hair, " I just think that Carsen will take advantage of you."
"And you haven't already?" I asked sarcastically
"Well no not really, I haven't forced you into anything... Anyway that's not the point, Carsen is bad news. He sucks up to my dad, makes him look intelligent and kind in comparison to me, which he probably is and then my father sees him as the son he wished he had."
I shook my head and placed my hands on his shoulders.
"See I told you, I knew you wouldn't be able to keep your hands off me for too long." He smirked. I yanked my hands off him only to have him place his on my waist.
"What happened to not taking advantage?" I asked
"I just can't contain my self." He said leaning closer to me, grinning at me.
"Why don't you go flirt with some princess?" I said pushing myself away from his incredibly handsome face, as much as I wanted to stay there I knew I couldn't.
"There isn't a single princess who is as beautiful as you." He said looking into my eyes.
"Look you just want to sleep with me, and that's all, I don't even know why your saying these things because I have seen princesses who are ten times more pretty than I am."
"Not in my eyes."
"Just because I'm the only girl your age in the castle?"
"It wouldn't matter if there were hundreds of girls in this castle, I'd still choose you."
"I know men like you Jackson," I said accusingly "you only want one thing. I've seen girls fall for their charm and charisma, but I won't stand for it, I'm not like other girls who will just throw themselves at you, who would 'kill to sleep with you', I'm not that girl Jackson and I never will be." I walked quickly away from him, leaving the prince standing there in utter confusion. I doubt that any girl had ever turned him down, I was surprised with myself for dismissing such a handsome, rich and powerful guy, but I guess he only liked me because I was 'pretty' and not for my personality. I made my way to the staircase leading down towards the library only to find the library door bolted shut. It was getting dark and I was beginning to feel tired, so in order to get to my bed I used my body weight to try and bash the door in. It was no use. I was extremely hungry, since I hadn't eaten all day, and all the walking in the forest had made me really tired. Where on earth was Eldred? Deciding it was pointless me sitting there I got up, on a mission to find something to eat.I wondered around the corridors for a while, unable to navigate my way to the kitchens. I even stalked some maid carrying a tray laden with grapes, but she went into the Kings room so I had no luck. I contemplated whether to find Eldred, but decided that if the library was locked he definitely wouldn't be walking aimlessly around the castle. It was reaching nightfall, and I began to get cold and starving, my stomach began to growl like a wolf and my eyes felt like they were being pulled shut. I found an alcove in the wall and stole a piece of material from one of the rooms, wrapped myself in it and tried my hardest to snuggle up against the solid cold stone walls. I didn't dare to go and ask anyone, seeing that I not only knew no one, but no one seemed to like me particularly. I managed to blend into the walls as guards came past to assume their shifts. I sneezed suddenly causing them all to turn around at once.
"What you doing here?" The one nearest me spoke.
"Tryin' to 'ide ere and when we don' notice ya gonna steal sumthin?" One with a very strong accent cried.
"No... I" I started
"I've seen many gals like ya-self, and there's always sum excuse, and it ain't ever true." He yelled grabbing hold of my arm and pulling me alongside him. The guards dragged me outside a pair of double oak doors. The head guard, the one with the extremely bad accent, knocked loudly on the door. A head popped through the door and then the guards pulled me in.
"Am sorry to wake ya sire but we hav caught a robber, an we dunno what to do with it." The guard boomed as he dragged me forward by my hair. I let out a cry of pain and a guard behind me gave be a strong kick in attempt to shut me up, however it only made me cry harder.
"Tania?" The prince whispered worriedly, his eyes shimmered in confusion as he cried "Let her go."
"But sire we found 'er pretending to sleep but really she was waiting ta strike." The guard cried violently.
"She is my maid and does she look like a robber to you? Do I have to remind you who I am? Do I have to remind you who I'm going to be? Don't forget that I can get you the sack in seconds, you could be among the peasants of my kingdom in no time.Get out of my sight!" Jackson ordered, his eyes raging with anger.
"Yes sire." The guard whimpered, clearly frightened of the prince's sudden mood change. The guards released me from their grip only to leave me sprawled out on the floor. Jackson grabbed my waist and hoisted me back up onto my feet.
"Sorry about that, we need some new measures of security, my dad tells them to report anyone suspicious, and then they are usually given some form of a sentence, guilty or not guilty." Jackson explained as he sat down on a chair. "What were you doing anyway, Tania?"
"Eldred seems to have disappeared and the library is locked, so I have no where to sleep." I replied.
"I shall ask my father in the morning about where Eldred is but for now you must sleep in my bed, and I promise I won't try anything, unless you want me to?" He winked suggestively , "I'm joking, I'm joking."
I smiled, the prince was actually being decent for once. Decent? No more like being civil.
"Put this on." He said throwing me a white tunic, " unless you want to sleep in your dress."
"Thanks." I smiled, he turned around as I changed into his tunic. As soon as I placed the tunic over my head I could smell his heavenly scent. It was rich yet delicate and extremely masculine. I walked over to his bed and lay on his feather stuffed mattress and covered my self in his luxuriously soft bed covers before resting my head on his cloud like pillows. "I might lock myself out of the library more often." I thought to myself.
"Yet another excuse to sleep in my bed." Jackson said smirking. I groaned in realisation that I had yet again spoken aloud. I turned my back on him so that I was as far away from him as possible, and my body lay parallel to the edge of the bed.
"Oh come on Tania, I don't bite." The prince said soothingly. I didn't move closer to him.
"Yea I'm not as easy to get as you may think your highness." I said stubbonly
"Maybe, but that isn't going to stop me getting closer to you." He said as I felt a pair of muscular arms wrap around me and pull me around so that our faces were almost touching. He moved his face closer to my neck. I held my breath and the feeling of his breath against my skin sent shivers down my spine as his lips got closer and closer. I shut my eyes in anticipation. Without warning he pulled away from me, only to make me moan and gasp. My face suddenly went red and I turned away from him.
"Who said anything about hard to get honey?" He said and I could tell that he was smirking even with my back turned from him.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
