The cold trickle of water intwined itself around my fingers as I twirled my hand through the water. I watched as the icy sapphire water fell in mirror like sheets to the aged white basin. The water glistened in the light with pricks of light reflecting off random angles. I suddenly felt a hand clasp my shoulder. I turned in shock. There in front of me was one of the last people whom I wanted to see, Romero.
"What can I do for you?" I snapped.
"No need to be so aggressive," he tutted waving his finger mockingly at me "I just want to spend some time with my, future wife."
I turned back to the fountain, making it quite clear that I did not desire this.
"Come on, who wouldn't want to spend time with someone so devilishly handsome as myself." He grinned, full of his own self importance.
"What I want is for you to leave me alone." I said cuttingly. Romero wasn't phased by my response and continued with his 'wooing'.
"Why you tease me so fair maiden,
For whose hair I long to touch
Your beauty is so greatly laden
And now I can so happily say that you are in my clutch
I know my love for you will be intense
I know that yours will equally be so
A long future together I can sense
One that will not be broken by any cruel foe
I will caress your soft skin
Make love to you night on and night end
Waiting for our true passion to begin
Your broken heart I would mend
With my soft lips I would love yours
Especially when you are on all fours."He ended his seemingly romantic poem with a disgusting sexual innuendo. He winked at me as I winced and returned my focus to the fountain. Did he not get the message?
"Thank you for that delightful attempt at a sonnet, but sadly I can not confess my love for you." I said sharply.
"Well I take you up on that challenge, for in a week you will be mine and your heavenly body will be under my control." He grinned wickedly at me before getting up and walking away from him, an air of confidence and smug victory surrounding him. I shuddered, I couldn't marry him, the creep who my father has forced upon me. I needed to get out of here fast, before it was all too late. I looked up at the vast grey towers that loomed intimidatingly above me, the very build of the castle made it seem as if my mission was impossible, but I had done it once before, who is to say I couldn't do it again.I made my way to the north wing of the castle. This was the oldest part and the least used, as it was full of crumbling furniture and junk that no body had any use for anymore. I remembered where I had put it. I clambered over broken chairs, beds, tapestries and armour until I reached the far corner where, under neither a pile of mouth eaten cloaks, lay a giant ancient book. I blew away the thick carpet of dust and slowly opened the book, careful as to not rip any of the century old pages. I still remained a mystery as to why my father hadn't taken more care of this book, if he knew it existed it would probably be burnt, but thank god he didn't. The book contained every secret tunnel and safe route away from the castle. It was full of detailed descriptions explaining paths to take and roads to avoid, it had been my lifeline. I had added various notes here and there, crossing out tunnels or paths that no longer existed or were too dangerous to go on. It had been because of this book that I had escaped in the first place. I had to leave tonight.

My father suspected that I was up for something. The way to be a devilish leader is knowing what your enemy is going to do before it has even crossed their mind, hence why he had already read me like a book. He walked up to me with that knowing cruel smirk on his face and placed his hands on my shoulders and looked into my eyes menacingly.
"Tania, I just couldn't wait to see my daughter get married, being the loving father that I am, so I have decided to bring forward the wedding. You will marry Romero tomorrow."Jackson's POV
2 days agoI didn't know what to do. She had left. Left without uttering a word to me. She is gone forever, I will never see her ever again. I paced around the room my hands running through my hair in aggravation. How could you let this happen Jackson? You were meant to protect her. I never even told her that I felt the same way. She probably won't think twice about me now that I didn't tell her that I love her as well. Fuck I love her, and I let her get away. I slammed my fists on the hard table in anger. I have to get her back, and I don't care at what cost.
Tanya's POV
I walked into my room to find a white pearly silk dress lying on my bed tormenting me. I felt tears fall from my eyes. I couldn't go through with this, and be married to Romero this time tomorrow night. I loved Jackson. My eyes flitted over to the dress, anger raged through me and I strode over to it and tore the fabric and threw them in frustration across my room. I changed my clothes into a simple navy blue tunic with a leather belt. I grabbed a felt hat that I had found years ago, placed it on my head and tucked my hair inside it. I had already planned my escape, the question was whether I had the guts to go through with it.
I looked outside my balcony. The darkness of the night was seeping over the mountain, enveloping trees and shrubs in its black velvety gloom. Stars shone sparsely as if they were touches leading the way. I took a deep breath and decided that it was now, or never.
I walked down the corridor as if I was a man. My head was down pretending I was a servant boy on an errand. I quickened my pace as I passed soldiers and guards on patrol. I reached the far end of the castle that overlooked a huge cliff that dropped 200 metres. Cautiously I made my way over to a panel that was concealed behind a painting of my great great uncle, and slid it open. Checking the coast was clear I snuck inside.
Immediately upon stepping inside the damp tunnel I wished that I had brought a candle as I couldn't see through the intense darkness. I got onto my hands and knees and decided that this was safer as I knew where I was going. I used my hands to pat the ground before advancing which coated my hands in grime and rot I'd rather not know the source of. I could occasionally near the faint trickle of water as it ran along the rocks, but I was very wary that it may not be water at all. Thirty minutes passed of darkness before I reached the end of the first tunnel. My hands reached out to feel a wall of cold stone and I panicked at first as I thought it was a dead end, but then I found the handle and turned it carefully. The concealed door swung to let in enough light that I could just about make out trees and rocks. I had made it outside the castle. I was standing on a small ledge above the cliff that looked like an abyss, waiting for me to fall. The hard part had only just started.
