"I warn you Percy, this is gonna be reaalllly boring, you might even have to talk to some stuck up snobs. You think you can handle that?" I asked, a smile on my face.
She rolled her eyes, a lopsided grin growing on her face. "Trust me, if I can deal with my drama queen of an uncle, I'm almost sure I can deal with the people in there" I chuckled a bit before we both entered into the busy hall.
Before we had gone inside Percy had given me back my coat and I couldn't help but notice the slight smell of the ocean that came with it. I ignored this though as we both walked in, hands separated, towards the large crowds ahead of us.
"You sure you wanna do this Percy? Like I said these people can be a bit much" I warned once more as the people got closer, I could already spot a couple people in the crowd who were looking out way, a passive aggressive smile etched onto their faces.
"Tim, seriously, don't worry. I've been through a lot worse then some persistent people." She turned to look at me, a reassuring smile playing on her lips.
I nodded once more before we walked into the crowd. People's voice surrounded up, fake laughter, sophisticated accents, and lots of big words being used improperly in an effort to look intelligent.
I internally groaned when someone walked up to us.
"Ah, Tim Wayne! Such a nice party that your father is throwing" the mans voice was strained and it was obvious he would rather be out of here.
"Yes, Bruce's parties are usually quite great." I nodded in agreement, putting on my show smile.
I looked over to see Percy with a content smile, she looked genuine in her enjoyment of this conversation.
"Oh, and who is this lovely young lady here?" The man turns to face Percy, extending a hand out.
She smiled gratefully and shook his hand, he smiled back, this time looking more genuine.
"I'm Persephone Jackson, but please, as we've been aquatinted through a dear friend of mine, call me Percy." She bowed slightly.
The man seemed to take this in full stride, his smile growing. "Well it's lovely to meet you Miss Percy, I'm Daniel Straughtworth, but you can just call me Daniel." Percy nodded.
"So who here is your family? What business do they run?" Daniel asked.
"Oh I'm actually here on my own accord, Mr. Drake here invited me after I made the cookies for the event" She slipped me a small smile when she said my name, I couldn't help the slight fuzzy feeling that filled my chest.
"Oh that is quiet impressive Miss Percy" Daniel nodded. "I'll be sure to stop and collect one once I make my way over"
"Oh I'd hurry, they usually don't last long, not even 40 batches could stop my camp back home" she giggled slightly and somehow the mood seemed to lighten between the three of us.
"Alright, I'll take your word for it miss Jackson, I'll take my leave then, please have a good night both of you. May we meet later on in the night." Daniel bowed to us as Percy waved him goodbye. He soon disappeared into the crowd.
"See I told you, I got this" I couldn't help but smile as she looked over at me, a proud smirk on her face.
I put my hands up " you were right, I shouldn't have underestimated you" she giggled and we continued off into the crowd once more.
After stopping a couple times to talk to more people we started to walk off from our last talk.
"Ugh these people are all the same" I groaned quietly so only me and Percy could hear.
