I was kind of worried for Will, if truth be told. I didn't think I'd ever heard of anyone who hasn't had a power to present to Coach Boomer on their first day at Sky High- most powers develop at least months before the school term starts.
Take Zach; his powers had only come in like a few weeks ago, but he still had them to start the term... even if glowing seemed a pretty pathetic power...
Those were the thoughts clouding my head and screaming through my brain as we walked down the school halls. I snapped back to reality though, when I bumped straight into Will.
"What the hell, doofus?!" I exclaimed, glaring at his back, but he didn't answer.
Looking over his shoulder, I could see that Gwen Grayson stood in front of him smiling at him.
I didn't even have to look at Will to know he was staring like an idiot. I rolled my eyes at the thought.
"Will Stronghold," Gwen mused.
"Ahh... telepathy!" Will deduced (wrongly, might I add), making some weird sort of hand gesture between her and him.
"No, name tag," Gwen answered, a slight laugh in her voice.
I felt like facepalming- my brother was such an idiot sometimes!
"So these are my friends," Will said, hoping to make a quick recovery.
"This is Zach-"
"Whaddup?" Zach did his gangster thing that I'd never ever.... ever get.
"This is my twin sister Rosie," Will gestured to me, and I rose my eyebrows in greeting.
"And this is-" Will was about to introduce Layla, but Gwen cut him off.
"Layla, got it. I love your skirt by the way," she said, and as much as I was never going to say it to Layla, it was so obvious that this girl didn't love her skirt, but before Layla could stutter out her thanks, Gwen interrupted... again! (I don't like her already.)
"So how's Power Placement going?" she asked, batting her eyelashes at Will, making me want to throw up down his back.
"Great..." Will lied with that stupid smile on his face, and I leaned back, already bored of the conversation, and began tapping my foot impatiently.
While Layla looked at me gratefully seeing as Gwen Grayson was clearly quite close to ruining Layla's chances with Will, Will shot me a glare... which I ignored, adding some sighs to my little performance too.
Just when I thought she was going to wrap it up, Gwen changed the topic; "Hey I need a freshman for the homecoming committee and was wondering if you'd like to talk about it over lunch or something?"
She did the eyelash batter again and I didn't even hide my sigh of impatience as I took to kicking the toe of my boot against the floor.
"I eat lunch," Will answered stupidly, and I decided I'd had enough.
"I'm gonna start heading to the gym. See you guys in a bit... erm, nice meeting you Gwen..." I muttered as I pushed past her slightly.
"You too!" she sang way too chirpy, before going on about how cute Will was.
I didn't even have to hide my eye roll this time, but I should have probably paid more attention to where I was going, because right then, I rounded a corner and walked straight into someone.
"Sorry," I muttered, not really in the mood for heartfelt apologies.
"You will be," I heard a murmur.
