It took maybe an hour or two before everyone was de-pacified but soon everyone was wandering round either in towels or their clothes, and Principal Powers was directing the constant flow of people.
I was stood with Warren and the gang by our lockers, watching the endless flow of people walking through the halls.
"Dude, as if we just saved the world," Zach exclaimed.
"I mean, Will did most of it," Magenta said.
"Not true- sorry Will," I added, Will holding his hands up to say he didn't mind; "We all played our part; Zach we couldn't have figured out the vents without you; Ethan if you hadn't swirlied Lash we'd have been fighting for even longer (which just wouldn't have been good for my energy levels considering all I ate was a cheese cube on a stick); Layla bossed it against Penny, Warren battered Speed, and Magenta, if you hadn't chewed the override wire thing, we'd all be pretty dead right about now."
"Well when you put it like that," Magenta smirked.
"We're all AWESOME!" Zach and Ethan yelled, high-fiving.
They all started chattering excitedly amongst themselves at that, and I felt Warren's hand graze across the small of my back. I looked up at him to see him smiling that now all-too-familiar close-lipped smile.
"We did good," I whispered, lightly nudging him.
"I'd say so," he murmured back; "I'm glad the world didn't have chance to end before I asked you out on a proper date though."
"Oh my God, you're going to take me out? Like not to a school dance or our place of work?" I gushed, hand slapped over my heart mockingly.
"Don't get your hopes up; I was just thinking dinner and a movie," he smirked.
"But not at the Paper Lantern, right? I feel like we need to give other restaurants a chance."
"That and I'm not really fancying a 50-point analysis of my date performance from Mrs Lee," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck.
My laughter was cut off as I saw two familiar faces across the hall.
"One sec," I murmured to Warren, making my way slowly down the corridor.
"Mum? Dad?" I called.
Their heads stopped their scanning of the crowded hallway and snapped in my direction.
"Honey!" they yelled in sync, running down the corridor towards me.
The impact of the hug only winded me slightly- because let me tell you, when the strongest man on Earth tackles you in a bear hug, it can hurt.
"Oh sweetie, you're okay?" Mum asked, already fussing over me, checking my face for any cuts or scrapes.
"I'm fine, honestly. But I'm not the one who got shot with a baby beam; what about you guys, how are you?"
"Oh, sweetie, we're fine, just fine," she gushed, pulling me in for another hug.
"All thanks to you guys," Dad said, and I fought the urge to roll my eyes as he put his superhero voice on, already knowing the inward battle he was having not to put his hands on his hips.
I looked over to see, Will had made his way over, group in tow.
"I just wanted to apologise to you guys," he said seriously.
"Oh honey, you can't blame yourself," Mum said, going over to hug him.
"Course not. How were you supposed to know your girlfriend was a psychopath?" Dad added, as I failed to hide my laugh.
