"well... this isn't exactly how i thought my birthday would play out, but im happy." Marinette muttered to break the awkward tension. It was at that moment that adrien realised how much he loved that girl.

His everyday ladybug.
His friend.
The girl who can barely form a coherent sentence without gushing.
His lady...

"Hey... marinette? i never actually got the chance to dance with you tonight." Asked adrien as he gazed into marinette's baby blue eyes. Oh how he adored how they glistened in the moonlight... Marinette looked back up at him, did she say yes? a part of her just wanted to leave, hawkmoth DID say that this wasn't over. However, this was adrien agreste asking.

"Y-Yes!!...why not?" She got up and strolled towards the dj set that nino left up and ready.

"Remember that song we danced to at chloe's birthday party?... well, that song is... special to me, let me find it for us!" Marinette browsed ninos' vinyl collection, it had to be there somewhere... right?

Adrien was in complete awe, too stunned to even form a sentence, ah... the irony. As adrien approached the booth where marinette was searching, she pulled out a red album cover.

"Ah! This is it!..." In marinette's hands was 'i won't hold you back' by toto. That's their song. Marinette glanced awkwardly at the record player, she had no idea how to work it.

"Adrien, do you know how to work this thing?..." Adrien smiled, strolling towards marinette. She passed him the record, he took it carefully out of the cover and placed it on the record player. The song began.

"Are your dance skills still as good as they were at the party?" Marinette took a second to glance up towards her dance partner. She was dancing with adrien.

The boy who she hated at first.
The boy with the emerald green eyes.
The boy who she'd been in love with since... since the umbrella.

"Oh, i've been practicing, trust me..." She whispered. Adrien's cheeks turned a shade of baby pink, this girl... god.

Adrien placed his hands around her back, he just wanted to hug her. How could marinette be so calm after all that had happened? No!... none of that matters, what matters is that she's safe. Safe in his arms, and he swears on his life that he'll never let go.

Adrien and Marinette danced through the whole song, making eye contact every now and then. It was those small moments that made them fall in love with eachother over, and over, and over again.

Marinette decided that it was time to muster up the courage, she could do this. There couldn't possibly be a better moment than this.

"Y'know, i always loved you Adrien." Marinette stated, surprisingly casually, (considering the girl in question). Adrien was, once again, yo stunned to speak. Marinette had always loved him?... Always? His friend marinette, who has stuck by his side through thick and thin. The girl with the beautiful fashion sketches. The girl who had been saving Paris by his side for 3 years.

The girl with the umbrella.
