Winds of the Etherium

Ready for launch!

Gail POV

I turn with a small shiver, I do have to admit that he does scare me, I walk up the stairs to find that launch had already pretty much began. 

"WE ARE ALL CLEAR CAPTAIN!" said the alien with 6 eyes. 

I see Jim walking over to the shrouds, I like his style but I like the rafters just a bit more. I climb the scaffolding just next to his but i go up higher on to the closest beam,

"and where are you going" he asks with curiosity 

"best spot in the house, its why i was up in the rafters before we first met. well actually not first met, I've actually known you for a really long time."

"what?" Jim say clearly confused, but after a second of looking at my face he realizes it 

"wait, you're Gail Stewart! Like my only friend from second year school!" 

"boom! 10 points for Hawkins!" I say with a grin! "took you long enough to figure it out, how come you didn't recognize me sooner?" 

"you look different! not bad at all! you look great! but its been what 4 years and-" Jim stops as he realizes what he said. 

I laugh at the mortification on his face, "Its ok Hawkins, contrary to popular belief I actually like complements." just as we began to talk about what we've been up to we are interrupted by a booming voice 

"ALLLL HANDS TO STATIONS!!" Roars Mr. Arrow.

"ah! well that's my cue to check in with the captain to see if i can help with anything! but lets continue this conversation later!"  I say as I jump away

"Good day Captain! Fine day for a launch!" I say trying to make small conversation. "anything I could do?"

"ah Miss. Stewart! Actually I was just going to have someone come retrieve you. Could you help untie the sails, we happen to be one man short today!"

"Aye aye Captain!" I say with a small salute 

Jim POV

"what is this crazy world," I think with a small smile "I am on my dream adventure, and I just happen to be here with her!? after all these years!"

"LOOSEN ALL SOLAR SAILS!" I hear Mr. Arrow yell, his appearance definitely matches his booming voice. I look up to see the solar sails filling with yellowish white energy, it's the most magnificent thing i have seen in my life. I run over to the center mast which now is lighting up with energy, and then my feet leave the ground, its a strange sensation, i feel light and heavy at the same time. 

"Mr. Snuff, engage artificial gravity!" says the captain speaking to the alien i bumped in to earlier, which then he turns and salutes the Captain, he turns and pulls a lever and we all (well except doc) fall gracefully to the ground.

"South by Southwest Mr. Turnbuckle, heading 2-1-0-0"

"aye, Captain. 2-1-0-0."

the ship began to turn towards the sky as we began to launch.

"full speed, Mr. Arrow, if you please." says the captain briefly to Mr. Arrow. He turns to a pipe and yells some thing in to it, but I don't quite make out the words. 

"you might want to hold on to something..." I turn to see Gail sitting on the rafters above me with a smirk on her face.

"uh, alright?" I make my way to the shrouds, just as i get my foot hold the ship launches in to space, as this is happening i hear a small giggle come out of Gail and i cant help but smile, this was amazing.
