finally home

Third person POV

The R.L.S. Legacy had been docked for about 5 minutes when Jim's mother Ms. Hawkins showed up

"Gail my moms here do you want to meet her?" Jim says, Gail nods but she seems distracted, looking around, looking for someone.

Jim took Gail by the hand "dont worry, they'll show up."

Gail sighs "I hope so."

Jim took Gail over to his mom, tapping her on the shoulder and Sarah goes in for a hug, she lets go and Jim motioned over to Gail and starts to introduce her but get interrupted but his mother. The two seem to know each other and Jim looks visibly annoyed that Gail hadn't said anything and Gail laughs at his face.

Jim lets his mom know that he's going to stick around until Gail's parent showed up,  after about a hour of waiting Gail drew in a breath like she was going to say something

"Well it looks like they forgot, I mean we did get back a lot earlier than expected due to you know having a crazy portal to go through." Gail says with a sigh

"Oh, well instead of waiting do you want to come back to Delberts with me and my mom? I mean, I'm sure that you can let Atlas know that you are with us right?" Jim says, blush creeping up his cheek as Gail is turned away from him looking for any sign of Atlas or Mikey

"Um, no I'm ok, I think I'll just head home." Gail says not turning around "But thanks for the invite!" She says finally facing Jim and smiling, she doesn't notice the boys red cheeks as he looks away from her and down at his feet.

"Oh... do you uh, would you like to walk you home?" Jim responds not looking up

"No, Im alright. I need some time to process stuff." Gail says 

"Oh, ok, I'll see you around Stewart." The boy says looking up

"Bye Hawkins" The girl says as she turns and starts to walk in the direction of her home

"HELLO!! IM HOME!!" Gail yells as she walks into the house she closes the door behind her and sighs "right, Mikeys at school, Atlas is at work. Shit now I feel bad about making Jim wait for so long..." Gail thinks out loud

Gail walks up the stairs to her room and sits down one her bed leaving her bag on the ground "I missed my bed"

as she laid down the coins in her pocket jingled "Oh right the gold."

after unpacking and taking a much deserved nap Gail decided she was going to head over to Doc's house after all.

Gail walked down the stairs and left a pile of gold on the counter and writes a note for Atlas and Mikey "Im home, here's a gift, Im going to Doc's house  - Gail"

she walked to Delberts house and knocked on the door where she was greeted with open arms, Gail gave Sarah the other gold that she took, assuring the woman that she didn't need it. Sarah reluctantly took the gold with a sigh.

"Gail, you really don't need it?" Sarah says taking the gold from the girls calloused hands

"Nope! I left about half of it at my house so you have nothing to worry about Sarah!" Gail says with a smile

"Thank you Gail" Sarah said wrapping the girl in a hug

"your welcome, also I'm going to help rebuild the inn too." Gail says breaking away from the woman

A few weeks later

Gail had been home for about 6 weeks now and she was already enrolled in the interstellar academy, and so was Jim. She had helped rebuild the inn, just as she had promised, over the summer break before the new term started. Gail had given the letter of recommendation a few looks over before sending it through to the academy.
