An hour later

After taking a shower, getting my hygiene together and preparing myself for tonight, I finally made my way out the front door and toward my car.

As I did, my phone buzzed and I looked down at it, hoping it was Kai since she still hadn't texted me back when I'd told her I was leaving out to come and get her in a couple of minutes. And a few text messages that I'd sent her earlier that she still didn't respond to.

I sighed deeply once I saw it was just my homie Herb, texting me back about hooping with a few of the guys this weekend.

Yeah, bro. I'll see y'all then. Was all he said and I shoved my phone into my pocket, making my way to my car.

It didn't take me any time to get in and start it up but as I did, I was starting to feel like something was wrong. Kai had randomly stopped texting me completely this afternoon. Which was crazy since I couldn't get her to stop talking at all last night all the way up until 7 in the morning.

This girl is work, bruh. I thought to myself.

Scoffing, I stayed silent as I pulled away from my house and made my way over to hers. My mind ran a mile a minute when I did, hoping she'd just text back to ease it.

I just wanted to be able to make tonight special, just like I'd planned to do last night with her. Things just seemed to happened so fast and I didn't necessarily get the chance to do it but this was going to be my redemption.

Looking over in the passenger seat, her gift box full of pictures sat. I had it all planned out for how I wanted this to go. Starting with giving her a gift and showing her how beautiful she is with the pictures we'd taken.

Driving at a mellow pace now, I calmed myself and it didn't take me any time to get to her house. When I did, I pulled up, seeing all the neighbors outside once again and I couldn't help but to smirk as they pointed at my car, making others look.

Breaking me away from their gaze, I heard my phone buzz in the cup holder as I grabbed it out and looked down at it.

Kai❤️‍🔥: Don't worry about our date. That girl can have you. Was all the message said and I jolted my head back in confusion before I sighed heavily once I read it over again.

"Here we go." I spat, watching as their front door opened and Kai, Mel and Ferrow all came out in deep conversation.

"Kai, why are you being like that?" Was all I heard Ferrow saying as I cut my engine and slowly got out of my car, trying to hold my composure.

I can't lie and say a nigga wasn't getting aggravated with all of this shit, it'd been two full days now of on and off bullshit with her.

I couldn't keep up any more.

"Kai." Mel and Ferrow went on calling her as she made her way down the block, completely ignoring them both as I walked up on them.

"What's going on y'all?" I couldn't help but to ask as I towered over them, looking down.

"Hey, Carter." Ferrow shook her head as Mel made her way over to Kai, obviously trying to calm her down from something.

"What did I do to her now?" Was all I asked, just trying to fix this shit once again with her.

"I really don't even know, bro."

"I think you just need to talk to her." She went on saying to me and I shook my head, watching as her and Mel stood at the end of the block now in deep conversation.
