Alex's POV

I ran until I couldn't take running anymore. I wasn't sure where I was going.

When my legs gave way and I ran out of breath, I was near my only friends house. Obviously, she wasn't in, but her mum was. I was close to her mum, she was like the mum I never had.

I do have a mum, however, she doesn't support me. Zara and her mum Janet were all I had.

Slowly, I lifted my hand up and knocked on the door.

"Alex?"
"Hi."
"Why aren't you at school? Zara isn't in."
"Can I talk to you... inside?"
"Of course. C'mon I'll make you a cuppa."

I was shaking as I stepped in,my legs still sore.

I explain everything to her. She was silent for a while. I kind of expected her to tell me about how I 'over-reacted.'

She smiled at me and gave me a hug, the first hug I'd had in 2 months.

"Me and Zara love you okay? Don't care about what everyone else thinks. You are perfect Alex. I don't care what happens or who you are, gay, straight. I don't care. You are like the son I never had Alex."

"Thank you, you are the mum I never had."

We talked for a while until Zara came back.

Zara ran into me and asked me if I was okay. I nodded and Janet came in with our enchiladas.

"Your favorite."
