BONUS CHAPTER ONE
christmas special.
uneditedthe one where it's a friends' christmas!
Renjun stepped out of Junyoung's nursery into their open living room and kitchen area, the little baby cradled in his arms. The brunette took one long glance around the room, before landing his eyes back to their apartment's blue couch where his wife sat wrapping numerous gifts in a reindeer onesie.
"Hwa, why are you decorating our home like it's some elf work shop in the north pole?" Renjun questioned as he deadpanned at her joyful nature. Truth be told, the entire house was decorated in colors of red and green, fake snow and numerous other holiday like decorations.
Their dining table was filled and crowded with table placements and center pieces, the oven and stove full with bubbling pots and pans and their live tree in the corner of the room was a delightful mess.
Ignoring his words, Hwa Young kept her eyes on the plaid paper she wrapped over a gift box that likely was addressed to Junyoung. Her husband wouldn't be surprised as the entire underside of their christmas tree held gifts for only their son. "Christmas has to be perfect," She piped up.
The male's face scrunched up in bewilderment. "It's not that big of a deal, I mean we are inviting the boys over for a holiday party but that's it—" Cutting him off, his wife let out one of the loudest and exaggerated gasps he's ever heard come out of her mouth. "What—"
She stood abruptly, pointing the long cardboard stick, that came with using up all of her wrapping paper, like a threatening sword. "Huang Renjun, idiot husband of mine, you did not just say it's no big deal,"
Instinctively, he shielded Junyoung as the little boy began to squirm in his arms. "It's christmas," He reminded plainly, making her scoff again.
"No," She drawled out with extra vowels dramatically. "It's Junyoung's first christmas! Your son's first holiday besides halloween and thanksgiving!"
"I know but—" Once more, the male was interrupted with her passionate festive mood.
Quickly, Hwa Young tossed a red suit and white beard on her husband's shoulder, and placed a chaste kiss to her baby's head. "Now go put on this santa suit, stock the stockings, and place the gifts under the tree and go ho ho ho your way into some good egg nog for the night,"
"But they're all gonna be sold out—" He gawked, watching as she sat back down nonchalantly, and began to wrap more gifts.
Hwa Young rolled her eyes, and made a shooing motion with her hands. "That is why you're allowed to pull a whore card tonight to satisfy my alcohol withdrawals, now shoo,"
"Junyoung," Renjun called in a whisper, and on cue, the little baby looked up to his father with big doe eyes. "Mommy is scary,"
. . .
"Okay everyone, gather around we need to take our annual photo!" Hwa Young yelled excitedly as the night finally came to start. But before everyone could get as wasted as ever, the woman wanted to document this moment, especially for a scrapbook she's been making.
As everyone began to crowd around the blue couch, she hurriedly ran forward and set up her phone on the mantle place.
Jaemin groaned, seeing that she was selecting a specific camera setting. "I don't trust self timer, I always blink," He huffed, whilst Donghyuck came up to his side— adorned in reindeer antlers.
"You should check out last year's group photo," The Lee snickered to the side, earning a very hefty elbow to his abdomen from the other.
Hwa Young waved off their antics, shaking her head as she sat in the middle of her couch, next to her husband and son. "Too bad, keep your eyes open old man," She hissed, glancing back at the male who stuck his tongue out.
"Shut up, roast beef," He grunted, crossing his arms sassily.
The female Huang gasped in shock, "You did not just call me—"
"The timer is at 5!" Johnny yelled hurriedly, catching the bickering pair's attention. Immediately everyone including the two sat and stood up straighter, preparing themselves for the flash.
"Everyone say cheese!" Mark yelled, quickly hoisting Mari onto his shoulders— causing the young child to giggle cutely.
Seeing the number hit 3, everyone began to smile.
It was until a certain baby had spoken up, that they all whipped their heads in the youngest's direction.
"Dada," Junyoung babbled, though he was blowing raspberries just before and after saying it— each and every person heard it clearly.
"What?!" Hwa Young screamed in delight, bouncing up and down in her seat as she lovingly stared at her son. "Say Mom-mee! Mommy!"
"Oh my god, he spoke!" Jisung gasped, bewildered by the fact that a child that young spoke. He found everything that involved the young Huang surprising , especially since the male had zero to no experience with children besides Mari.
"Junyoung spoke!" Taeyong clapped happily, peaking over everyone's shoulders.
Jeno who had been particularly quiet, despite internally jumping for joy had finally spoken up. "Renjun, are you crying?" He asked incredulously, his eyes widening at seeing his friend's shoulders tremble, his hold tightening around his son.
"No, the flash was too bright," Renjun hissed before gratefully peppering kisses all over his son's face.
