Jin
I stagger towards the living room, walking with short, weak steps. I wish I hadn't gotten out of my bed, my head is spinning and my thighs are aching like hell already.
Still, what needs to be done needs to be done. I need to call up Jungkook and apologise for my absence. Poor guy must be going crazy handing all the hassle at the office by himself.
I wish I could go today and I nearly had half the mind to, but Taehyung forbid me from going for another of his weird reasons. Bet it was because he wanted to keep up the show in front of his sister, show her what a good and loving and caring husband he is. I mean, it's not like he actually cares about me or something.
So far, he's doing a great job at the pretence. Helping me get everywhere, giving me my medicines on time, running around doing my little chores. If I didn't know him like I do, I would have thought he was in love with me.
Mr Kim Taehyung is a brilliant actor, I have to say.
Anyway, as I hobble towards the living room to find the telephone (my cell phone is once again awol, and I have no intention of trying to retrieve it unless I absolutely have to) I am already starting to regret it. I have no idea why I've been feeling so tired and exhausted over the past couple of days, but whatever it is, it's terribly annoying and I hope it passes quickly. I don't think I can stand another day being babied by Kim Taehyung. I'd rather die of the fever.
I take another step and my knees unexpectedly give out beneath me. I shut my eyes, anticipating the rough fall when a pair of arms grab me around my waist and pull me back upright, but I know they are much too strong and manly to be Jisoo's.
'What are you doing?' A deep voice breathes into my ear. 'So clumsy.'
My face heats up as I push him away and grab onto the railing to support myself. 'W-what are you doing here?'
Taehyung raises an eyebrow. 'Saving you from breaking both your legs?'
'N-no, I mean, what are you doing in here? You're supposed to be in your office.'
'Oh- that.' Taehyung frowns and rubs his head. 'I- it doesn't matter.'
I sigh aloud. 'Taehyung, I'm not dense. Look, you're free to go, I'm going to be fine by myself.'
'It's not that!' Taehyung's cheeks burn, and I watch him stutter and step back with a strange sort of satisfaction. 'I- just- Jisoo's going to be going out with Jennie today, so-'
'You know what? You don't need to complete that.'
Taehyung stops mid-sentence, blushes and looks relieved. 'Uh...great, then. Where you going? Can I fetch you something?'
'Don't treat me like some helpless kid, Taehyung,' I say, irritably. 'We're strangers, remember?'
Taehyung's eyebrows draw together in a frown. 'Do you have to keep saying that?'
'Yes, because it's true.' I cross my arms. 'Or is it not?'
Taehyung only stares at me for a few seconds, and I stare right back, waiting, the tension thick in the air. Then he clears his throat, breaking the silence.
'Look, Jin, strangers or not, you're recovering from a fever, and the doctor advised you to rest-'
'Why do you care?' I interrupt him, coldly.
'I care,' Taehyung raises his voice for the first time in a long, long while, looking at me with a glint in his eye, 'because this is my house and you are my husband!'
'Huh. Not for long, anyway.' I uncross my arms and turn slowly back towards the direction I was heading.
'Where are you going?' Taehyung calls after me, his voice unusually rough and husky.
