One week later

Darkness.

Total darkness.

Then light.

First only a small pinprick of light, almost like a tiny little point in the distance. Then the point grew into a line. A long, straight line.

The line expanded in length and so did I. I felt like I was growing. Drawing closer to the source of light.

And then suddenly there was light everywhere. Light and whiteness. Whiteness everywhere. Such a soothing colour, white.

I heard someone scream 'He's awake!' And then running footsteps, out of somewhere. A room. Where I was. Where I was in right now.

I didn't feel like I was sleeping or sitting or standing. I didn't know whether I was conscious or unconscious. I only felt stagnant. Stationary. Waiting. A spectator.

Then someone appeared in the distance. A tiny black dot in the speck of bright light clouding my vision. I squinted in the whiteness, only managing to make out a tall, lean figure. In white, because it blended in with the surroundings. Black hair.

Black hair. Tae had black hair.

'Tae,' I cried out, looking at the man.

There was silence. I waited eagerly for him to answer. But no answer came. Instead there was a gust of wind and a whooshing noise as though the man silently took a seat beside me. I couldn't see him, though. Still not clearly enough. Just the black hair. And the eyes.

'Tae,' I cried out, weakly, once more. I tried to reach out a hand to touch him, but failed. Tae didn't move or speak.

'Tae?' I tried again, and a single tear fell out of my eye in frustration. Why wasn't he answering?

'Mr Kim Seokjin?' A gentle voice spoke.

'What's with the honorifics, Tae?' I half-groaned, half-laughed. 'Come closer. I can't see you.'

'Mr Kim Seokjin.' The voice repeated.

'Come on, don't do that!' I cried out. I reached out an arm to touch him again, but missed once more. I tried to get up, but found myself bound to something. I tried to kick my feet but they were held down by the suffocating blankets I was held underneath.

'Tae...come on...don't play around with me!' I begged, almost, as I unsuccessfully tried to kick the sheets off me.

'Mr Kim.'

'Stop it! You're scaring me.' More tears fell out of my eyes. Why did Tae sound so strange? And why couldn't I see him, touch him?

'Mr Kim Seokjin. Please stay still. Don't panic.'

My movements stilled, and the next moment I yelped as a needle pricked my arm without warning. I thrashed around, trying to get away from the sharp tip, but it kept pushing in relentlessly, and my arm was held firmly in someone else's grip.

Eventually I gave up and just accepted the injection. After a while the needle was moved out of my arm and I felt my head clear. I blinked my eyes open and shut, shook my head repeatedly to try and clear some of the continuous buzzing going on in there. My vision cleared. Things formed some shape. People came into view.

I looked at the person sitting next to the bed I was lying on. He was sitting on a chair. He wore a white coat. Did Tae own a white coat?

And he had black hair. Tae.
