Jax's POV

"I'm really worried about her. I mean it's been three days and no answer." Luna's voice was hushed and echoing. It sounded like she was in a bathroom.

So far she's called me every day since the incident, asking for the same details over and over again. I think she was freaked out, which was understandable.

No one knew where Scarlet was and she wasn't answering her phone.

Kingston and Ozzie wanted to go over to her boyfriend's place and look for her but Gen said not to. Scarlet was in denial about her relationship and we didn't want to make things any worse.

I kept seeing the bruises on her arm and the terrified look in her eyes when I went to bed at night.

"I know. I wish I would've just told you guys about the scratch on her eye." I shook my head and held the phone closer to my ear. Luna sighed. "If I had known that—"

"You didn't have the context to what was going on." She interjected. "You didn't even know she was dating someone. Don't blame yourself, Jax. You just got here." I could hear the deflation in her tone. "The rest of us should've known something was off with her. We've known her for years and we didn't even notice. Hell, I know when her period comes but I didn't see this coming."

I squeezed my eyes tight and took a small breath.

The reality of this situation was stressing me out.

"Tell me about her boyfriend." I felt like I was missing important pieces of this whole situation.

Luna exhaled. "Well, his name's Jordan. He's a real estate agent. He's a bit older than her and they live in an apartment together."

My brows furrowed and I leaned my hand on the kitchen counter. "He sounds a bit older. How old is he exactly?"

Most real estate agents were in their late twenties and up and I knew Scarlet was 23. Age plays more of a role in relationship dynamics than people think.

I could hear her sighing through the phone and it made my hair stand on end.

"He's 32."

My mouth opened briefly in shock. He was what?

"I'm sorry did you just say that he's 32?" I could hear my voice rising.

"Yeah," I could hear the coldness in her tone. "We all thought it was a bit weird that he would date someone so young but it's her relationship and....well she seemed happy."

"Have you met him before?" I looked across the room and noticed Bella chewing on my house slippers.

I eyed her and she immediately stopped, clearly annoyed that I had interrupted her. She whined and huffed, walking into the living room.

"Yeah, he seemed nice. Just distant." She was analyzing things aloud now. "I only got to meet him like twice though. He's tall, biracial, has a weird-looking mustache..."

"I'm sure she'll show up tomorrow." I tried to sound hopeful but even I wasn't confident.

"She missed practice on Friday and Scarlet doesn't miss practice...", she emphasized. "...like ever."
