Chapter 1- Who is he?

"With all due respect, Hokage sama (head of konoha), I think that they should get another higher rank mission to prove themselves after what happened on their last. I understand that due to their c-rank mission, turning a-rank, one of the gennin passed and you don't have complete trust in them succeeding but give them another chance. One of my gennin, Hinata, is free and so am I. We could form a temporary team and do a c or a b-rank mission as Shino and Kiba are not available and are currently with their parents." A ravenette with beautiful red eyes said. She was none other than the genjutsu mistress of Konoha.

"I don't know kurenai san, Kakashi kun is very badly injured and they were able to let a teammate die. I think they need more experience. I definitely have no doubts in your skill but I didn't in Kakashi kun's either and he passed out protecting his students, who armaturely got stuck up. Leaving the skills aside, the two just witnessed the death of a teammate. Do you think they are taking that well?" The hokage, an old man with two triangular spikes of hair coming from both sides of his head and a beard, with a white and red robe and a smoking pipe asked rhetorically .

"I know they are managing because unexpectedly, it was the more soft hearted of the two, Sakura who approached me about this. I believe they are ready and a c-rank can't hurt. It's not like another will be turned a higher rank, right?" Kurenai replied.

"Ok. I will comply but I want you to pack enough weapons for an a-rank and and make sure to keep them safe and out of trouble. You do know about the most recent Suna and Iwa's war, right? Suna was beginning to lose but an unknown shinobi destroyed the entirety of the remaining Iwa forces, forcing Iwa to forfeit."

"Hai, Sandaime (lord third) sama."

"Kazekage sama (leader of Sunagakure/Suna) requests us to escort into our village, one of the shinobi that fought in the war. He says that the shinobi is from Konoha but he refuses to tell me who it is. I don't know why he wants us to escort one particular shinobi, seeing as we sent plenty of reinforcements but you and your temporary team will do the job."

"Hai, Sandaime sama." Kurenai says as she bows and shunshins out of the office.

Five minutes later, the Jonin Kunoichi gets Hinata hyuga, a shy and petite girl who has midnight blue hair, Sasuke Uchiha, a haughty, emo teen with pitch black hair and eyes, and Sakura Haruno, to be blunt, a pink haired fangirl banshee, together to inform them of their mission.

"Good morning you three, as per the requests of Sakura and Sasuke, I was able to convince hokage sama to get you another c-rank. Hinata, you will be joining in on this mission as Kiba and Shino are busy right now." Kurenai said to the three gennin

"H-hai/Hai"

"Our mission is to escort a shinobi, apparently from the leaf, from Suna to here. The Kazekage himself requested for this certain mission so we CANNOT blow it."

"Sensei, I have a question. When will Kakashi Sensei be alright?" an unusually depressed sounding Sakura asked. It was partly her fault for her Sensei's condition and her teammate's death so it's not unnecessary.

"I don't know, Sakura, but I hope it's soon." Kurenai replied. Although the emo duckbutt for hair didn't really care for things, this had visibly taken a toll on him.

"Meet me at the gate in an hour. Pack resources for a week."

Three days later

"Thank you so much for your help, Scarved Reaper sama. I have asked for some konoha shinobi to escort you home, as it seems you are taking your leave now." The Kazekage said to the mysterious man who blew out an army of Iwa shinobi in a snap of the finger.

"Oh, Thank you for your hospitality but I asked you not to hire anyone like that. No offence to them but I doubt anyone will be able to keep up with me." He replied cheerfully to the stoic leader of Suna.

"Well, farewell, then. Please feel free to visit again."

"*knock* *knock* Kazekage sama? May we come in? We are here to escort the leaf shinobi you asked us for." Kurenai said as she approached the door, not knowing about the conversation that just took place between the particular shinobi and the Kazekage.

"Please come in." The Kazekage replied.

"Umm, might as well go with them as they are here. I will take my leave now, thank you for having me, Kazekage sama." the scarfed shinobi says as he walks towards the team of four who just entered. The Kazekage gives a brisk nod as he watches them leave his office.

The trip was very uneventful as they just ran to Konoha, only to stop for the nights. They get back to Konoha and report to the Sandaime Hokage of their successful mission and the temporary team of four leave with massive curiosity of what's under the scarf and hood of the shinobi they escorted.

They kept trying to hold conversations but quickly found out that he isn't much of a talker like this one time, they tried to talk to him and get to know him.

Flashback

"Umm, Excuse me but could you tell me your name? I'm Sakura Haruno!" The pinkette gennin asked.

"I'm sorry, but that's classified." The scarf-clad shinobi answered.

"Well, w-would you l-like to t-talk about the w-war? You f-fought I-in it, r-right? W-what kind of a s-specialist a-are you? M-my name is H-Hinata h-hyuga, by t-the way."

"Nice to meet you, Miss Hinata. Yes, I did fight in the war. I'd rather not though and my fighting style is something I would prefer not to reveal though as I wouldn't want to give away my techniques but I can tell you this- I know many techniques in ninjutsu, genjutsu, taijutsu, senjutsu, kenjutsu, fuinjutsu and juinjutsu (this is controlling a person by the user for those who don't know). Though I always prefer to finish things where possible with nin-taijutsu. Also no offence or anything but I would prefer not to talk right now." He began, slightly less monotonous than his first reply, but soon went back to the monotone.

They were slightly flabbergasted but very well knew that he most likely was lying as he didn't seem too old. They were also disappointed with the antisocialism of this shinobi but kept quiet anyways.

Little did they know, he indeed was the shinobi who leveled the Iwa forces, single handedly.

Obliviously, all four of them had only one question by the end of the trip.
