The cool spring air felt uplifting as you took a deep breath in and stared out at the barren playground from your swing.

No children on such a beautiful day. Just as the thought brushed your mind, you saw a little girl with red hair running to the slide and a police officer chasing after her, continually yelling her name, April.

The girl climbed up to the top of the slide and the officer waited for her at the bottom, begging her to come down so he could take her back to her parents.

As you walked to the commotion, you realized the officer was Parrish. The little girl kept insisting she wouldn't go to her parents again. They had told her she hadn't heard voices in her head when she swore she could.

"You know," said Parrish, "I know a beautiful young lady who hears voices too. She just keeps it quiet. Like her own little secret. She only tells someone she trusts. Do you know someone you trust?" The little girl nodded and pointed to you.

You were a little shocked but have a comforting nod to this little girl you didn't even know.

Parrish smiled and said "good choice. I trust her too. Want to come down now?" The little girl nodded, slid down the slide, and went with Parrish back to her parents.

The girl became like a daughter to you and Parrish was like your best friend who helped you along the way.
