Goodness Gracious!
Goodness gracious!
You think I'm a fool?
Because I said, "It's over",
And walked-one step, two steps-
Right out the door?
I'll have you know, I'm no such thing.
But a fool I would have been
To have stayed and feigned
Like life was perfect, but was really not okay.
I was stuck in an hourglass, quicksand rushing
As you turned it over, time and time again.
But my screams went unheard-my pleads ignored.
And you'd leave me as you pleased,
My life dwindling to its end.
Your torture ceased, when I found my way out,
But you tried, and tried to bring me back in.
And maybe you don't know, but I'll never come back,
Because I know, like dead butterflies in frames,
You'll pin me to the wall, exposed and raw,
Like I'm part of some freak science fair show
With my sanity to f a l l, f a f
l a
l, l
l.
Yet, heed my warning!
For if I do return as Karma intends,
Like Ivy vines with ill intent,
I might be beautiful,
But I'll wrap my fingers around your neck,
And goodness gracious, you'll be dead.
