If I could ever go back in time and do things differently I don't think I ever would. Because I may have never met you.

"Hey dad." I said while softly groaning when I heard the sound of people around him. I learned yesterday that he was leaving for Rome. Apparently a deal had gone through with potential clients and he needed to mitigate it before they moved on to another company.

"Hey sweetheart. What are you doing?" He asked me through the phone and I told him about my day. It really only consisted of walking around the naborhood with Delilah and eating at a new restaurant for dinner but I didnt mind telling my dad.

"Cool bug. Are you ready for the banquet?" he pried and I just told him that I was while petting the puppy on my lap.

"Hey Mia." he said out of nowhere and I pu my attention on him before he spoke up again, "I know I barely tell you anymore but i'm proud of all the work your doing. I know I was a little harsh on you after you had told me you where moving out of the country for school and that you where going to studie engineering instead of business... but looking back on it now I realize I was trying to keep my baby as close to me as possible when I should have been letting you fluresh and make your own choices."

I heard him take a breath before continuing.

"And I know it's a little late but I just want to say that you made the right decision for you and I am so relieved you where able to stick up for yourself even after I gave you a hard time about it. I can tell your happy and really thats all that really matters." After he was done talking I felt tears pull at my eyes and I let out a sob that I was able to muffle with my palm while pulling the phone away from my face.

When I pulled myself back together agin I started talking to him again in a less pained voice.

"Thank You dad. I really appreciate that... and the fact that you supported me with my decision even if you wernt happy with it. I just- I just love you so much even if you are a controlling ass somtimes." I heared him chuckle on the other side of the phone before telling me he had to catch his flight.

The banquet I was attending started at 7:00pm so I had roughly two hours to get ready before I had to drive to the airport.

I had learned yesterday that the event was being held in a new private airplane hanger. After learning that my whole outlook on the thing changed and I got a little excited even if I wasnt fond of the socialization that I would have to do on my fathers behalf.

After finishing my makeup and putting on some pearls I had gotten for Christmas a few years ago I walked up to my car and started the hour drive. When I finally got there it was 7:08pm and I had just gotten out of my car.

Surprisingly we were all directed to park on a section of the runway that had been closed off.

While others who were brought in by limos and such doing it this way guaranteed a back way entrance into the party where I wouldnt have to get my picture taken first.

I walked in through massive garage doors and walked on the outskirts of the croud trying to find a place to awkwardly stand when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

When I looked back I found none other than Jacques Dubois.

"Jacques... ?" I asked startled to see him.

"Hello to you, Mia. It's a pleasure to see you again, what are you doing in Columbia?" he asked with a clear French accent.

"Well I actually moved here recently." I said while picking up a empanada off a plate and eating the food.
