Chapter 18

Note: you may need to read chapter 16 again to understand what's going on, this starts before the TNT was lit, and during the battle between Dream's army and Philza's

**Ranboo's POV**

My people are dying left and right. Some members of Dream's army are dying as well, but it's clear that they've been training for this moment their whole lives. Eret and Punz are still restrained luckily, so that is two less people to worry about.

I take my sword and stab into another person's chest. They fall and I rip it out. There's blood littering the ground, I know I was trained extensively, but this is different... These are people.

I hear a familiar scream in the distance. Oh no.... "Tommy.." I kick the person I'm fighting off of me and run in the direction of the scream. I see the bandana man about to bring a sword down onto Tommy's chest. "No!" I yell. Pure instinct kicks in. I slide into the man's legs, knocking him over. We both scramble to get up and he shoots an arrow at me, then a second then a third. I narrowly dodge all three of them and grab my bow and arrow. I shoot at him once and miss, I shoot again and I hit him in the arm. He groans in pain and reaches for another arrow. Luckily for me, he can't seem to find one.

"AHHHHHHH" an echoed scream can be heard in the distance. The man stands up straight and smirks at Tommy and I.

"Looks like that's our cue." He whistles loudly and one by one, the army starts disappearing. The must have killed some endermen to get pearls. Who was that scream? Did Technoblade survive? Is Tommy- oh yeah Tommy!

"Tommy are you alright?" I rush to his side.

"I'm fine I'm fine," he lets me help him stand up. "The bastard just stomped on my ankle and broke it. He said something about watching us go up in flames? What's he talking about?"

Shit, I almost forgot about the TNT... They were distracting us so that we wouldn't make it out in time!

"Tommy stay here. I need to find Techno." He nods and I place him down gently. I hear another agonizing scream echoing as I search the crowd frantically. "Techno! There you are... Whats going on? Why are they screaming? Can we make it out in time? The TNT-"

"I don't know. And no... We're not going to make it out, we don't have time to run. We should all say our goodbyes. It's too late. We're.... We're going to die. We've failed. He's won." Technoblade has never given up before.

No. I won't accept this. "Everyone! In the Pub NOW!" Everyone rushes inside, the injured being helped by people who can walk. I help Tommy inside. Punz and Eret are still here. Clearly they weren't in on the escape plan. They're both pretty quiet right now. Hopefully regretting their actions.

"Ranboo what do you have planned?" Technoblade asks. "Shouldn't we tell everyone to say their goodbyes?"

"Stop it. This isn't the Technoblade I know. The Technoblade who's worked so hard to get where he is. And you just want to give up? No, I won't have this.  It's been said that endermen have the ability to possess great power when in a state of certain death, if my theory is correct, I will be able to protect all of us when the TNT hits. It's also been said that weak endermen will die, or possibly not possess the power at all. I don't know if it'll work, but I'm the only one who can teleport and I'm not leaving everyone behind."

"Ranboo you could die-"

"Do you have another idea!?" I snap at him. His silence is my answer.

I sit in the middle of the Pub cross legged, trying my best to focus. It's fairly quiet considering how many people are in here. Likely due to the losses we have suffered.

I feel the rumble in the distance. It won't be long before the TNT reaches us and the Kingdom is nothing more than a wasteland. Dream is crazy, but he's not stupid. He desires control, if the entire Kingdom is gone, he'd have no one to brag to about his victories, so I know he'd leave the castle alone. Us on the other hand? He wants us dead and out of his way.

The chatter begins to pick up as the TNT gets closer. "Stay put! We have a plan!" I hear Technoblade yell but his voice sounds distant. I can't hear much except for the static of teleportation particles surrounding me. The darkness of me closing my eyes remains until the TNT sounds more distant. I open my eyes but see nothing. It's white, completely white. "Hello!" I yell.

There's cheers in the background.

"He fucking did it!"

"I'm alive!"

"I'm going to be able to see my son. Thank god."

I hear the voices. They sound close. Almost as if they're right beside me. "Ranboo. Come on. Wake up." Technoblade? I can't speak. What's happening!?

"Oh no. Oh fuck. Is he? Gone?" Definitely Tommy.

"He's breathing. But he's completely unresponsive." Come on. I need to wake up. They need to know that I'm here.

"Let's get him outside, maybe the fresh air will help." I feel myself being moved. I do not condone this! This feels weird! "Holy shit. We're- we're floating..?" Tommy again. He must have limped outside. Floating? What the hell does he mean?! Jeez I wish I could see...

"I guess Ranboo is more powerful than  he realized. He teleported us away from the TNT and placed us in an eternal state of teleportation but it's just so fast that it's keeping us in the same place. Thank you Ranboo, I'm proud of you. You saved all of us." I feel a hand being placed on my shoulder. If only I could thank him. My family's approval is the only thing I ever needed, them and one other person...

"General Technoblade look!" A voice I don't recognize yells. "It's Dream and ... Tubbo?"

That's enough for me to force my eyes open. I sit up quickly. "Tubbo? Where's Tubbo?" Tommy looks at me with wide eyes before he points to the mountain side where Tubbo is holding Dream and falling to the ground. Fast. "He doesn't have wings.... He's going to kill himself."

I don't think twice before jumping off of the now floating Pub and teleporting to an edge of the mountain. I put my arms at my side and dive off the side, falling as quickly as I can possibly force myself.

"I won't let you die Tubbo. I can't lose you." I am falling closer and closer to the ground, almost hitting it before I grab his arm and teleport both of us back to the Pub, seconds before he hits the ground.

He opens his eyes and Tommy and I instantly hug him. "Thank god, I almost lost you!"

"Ahh TUBBO you almost DIED!" I feel my ears ring at Tommy's incessant yelling!

"I'm not dead? Then how are you both alive? How am I alive? Am I hallucinating?"

I just chuckle at him. Simply thankful that he's alive. "Ranboo protected us. He saved all of us." Tommy smiles while patting my shoulder.

"Long live Prince Ranboo! Hero to us all!"

Cheers and claps erupt from the crowd. Many people are praising me. I hide my face slightly, turning towards Tubbo who's just smiling at me. "What?" I ask tilting my head.

He just smiles and shakes his head, "I told you they'd be cheering for you by the end of the week."

"Oh shut up." I punch him playfully before giving him another hug. A long awaited hug that I should have given him a long time ago.
