There are some people and things that we didn't forget, but we don't smile anymore when they are mentioned.

"So," Samya said, smoothening down her dress. "This woman grabbed me yesterday outside the airport, wearing a giant cross and everything. She goes 'God loves you' and I'm like 'which one?'"

I laughed under my breath.

"She gave me the dirtiest look like I just told her 'I'm a hooker and I like it in the ass'"

Gabriella put her hand over her mouth. "Fucking stop, Sam." We couldn't laugh in the kitchen, the guests were just outside.

"No. I further explained the multiple Hindu Gods and she looked like I had just invited her into a cult."

I muffled my giggle with a hand. "You do look like someone who'd praise the devil, Sam."

Samya flipped her hair over her shoulder, gorgeous dark eyes looking at Gab and me. "Seeing you both smile is like seeing a fucking meteor shower, guys. It's like everything is so fucking depressed in this house, like a never-ending funeral." Her eyes widened. "I didn't mean it li-"

I waved her apology off. "I know what it's like. I can only assume how bad it must feel for you."

"Our father is like death, if it counts," Gabriella muttered as Samya took her phone out of the pocket of her dress, adjusting the highlighter on her face for the nth time. "Why can't he just die?"

"Gab!" I hissed, scared someone must have heard.

Samya's eyes flickered between us, gorgeous dark skin fully adored by a pinkish highlighter. "Your whole family is sus as fuck, you know that?"

I hummed. "We should go out now."

"I can't believe my luck," Sam said. "My surprise visit landed me in a dinner with your father's political assholes."

We walked out of the kitchen, my heart beating loudly in my chest.

I entered the living room and stopped short when my eyes fell on them.

Giovanni and Fabiano Valentino. They looked painfully beautiful. Their eyes flickered to me, doing a quick scan of my body which was covered in a modest light blue dress with my hair up in a bun, a few curly strands escaping because my hair refused to be tamed.

Then, my eyes fell on him and it felt as if my heart shook with terror.

There were many things my father had done to me which made me hate him, but Mr Dan Cameron was the worst.

He smiled at me. He was forty years old with a daughter and wife. Black hair slightly greying and snow-white skin. Just another privileged man thinking everyone was below him.

I knew I was. He had made sure I knew I was.

"Hello," I heard Sam and Gab greet him. I forced out a greeting, too, hoping my hands weren't shaking. He smiled at us. Leona shifted closer to us, wrapping an arm around me.

"Let's have dinner now, shall we?"

People nodded in agreement and my father, followed by the Valentinos and then Dan who made sure to pass me a look as he left.

Leona's arm lingered but it eventually left and I almost wanted to beg her to keep it there.

She looked at me and then at Gab and Samya. "Samya. Go to the guest room. We are to attend this dinner as a family."

What?

It took a moment for me to understand her intent. Of course, she didn't want Samya to be there. Samya was freaking gorgeous. There was no doubt Dan would want to sink his claws into her. Maybe even the Valentinos.

But Samya didn't know that. "Why? I want to-"

"Please," I whispered to her. "It's private."

She frowned but nodded. "I didn't do anything wrong...did I?"

I pulled my little cousin in for a small hug. "No. I promise. I'll be there, soon. You need to tell me about your school tour to Paris. "

She nodded and walked away.

"Let's go," Leona said. Gab and I nodded, following her into the dining room.

. . .

I felt like crying.

He was sitting next to me somehow. Giovanni and Fabiano were sitting across from us. There was no one at the head of the table.

Dan's hand was on my thigh, rubbing up and down.

I bit into the fork, pushing back the tears. Don't cry.

The conversation at the table was tension-filled. Pleasantries were exchanged but that was it.

Everything was freaking me out.

His hand slipped between my thighs.

I shot out of my seat. "I need to use to the washroom. Excuse me. "

I walked away, letting my tears slip as soon as my back was turned towards them. God, how could a man be so cruel? My age was less than half his age.

I heard footsteps as soon as I turned into a corridor that led to a washroom.

I turned.

Giovanni and Fabiano walked towards me, calm and graceful, but their faces were set in stone.

Giovanni cupped my face before I could react, his thumb brushing the tears away from my face. "He touched you, piccolina"

(Little one)

"W-Wha-"

"Yes or no?" Fabiano asked, standing behind me so that I was caged between their hard bodies. They stepped closer when I didn't say anything.

"Answer, little girl," Giovanni ordered, gripping my jaw. "Yes or no?"

I gulped. "He didn't touch me."

I felt Fabiano's breath on my ear and shivered, wondering why I wasn't running for the hills. "Don't fucking lie, baby. I make liars beg for mercy, principessa."

(Princess)

Red lights flashed in my head. Bed for mercy.

Would father hurt me if I told them about Dan? I didn't know, but I wasn't going to give the Valentinos a chance to hurt me.

"Yes," I whispered, trembling as I felt Fabiano's lips brush on my neck.

"Where?" Giovanni asked softly, thumb moving over my bottom lip, the coldness of his ring brushing against my skin.

"T-Thigh," I stuttered, overwhelmed.

In an instant, they stepped back.

"Come with us."

Giovanni took my hand and pulled me to him till I was tucked to his side. Fabiano walked beside us as we entered the dining room.

Fabiano reached into the pocket of his suit and pulled out a gun.

He pointed it right at Dan Cameron who froze in fear.

"Step away from the table." Giovanni accented voice echoed in the silent dining room. "Now."

. . .

When I said I kinda imagine Leona and Adele, I meant only the body. Not the personality. Idk how y'all missed that.
