"i'm going. and you better clean this place up before i come back. understand?"
the annoying voice of the douchebag caught mark's attention when he was browsing through his laptop. he groaned as he waited impatiently for sejun to get out, so that he could spend time with donghyuck.
the loud footsteps passing through the hallway was mark's signal that it is completely alright to visit donghyuck. he opened his door to see sejun disappear into the hallway's turn, and turned to the younger to see him smiling at him.
mark grabbed the mixing bowl where he made his comfort food and his laptop, and walked excitedly to his neighbour's place. when he came inside the room, his neighbour shut the door and locked it.
the room was much more cleaner this time, although those blood stained bandages are scattered everywhere on the furniture. "how's everything going? as i promised, i bought your favorite with it!" he asked excitedly at the younger, who was nervously clenching his hands into fists.
"uh, e-everything's going fine..." donghyuck tried to smile, but failed miserably. "junnie...he got angry at me again...nothing else."
"i heard what happened," mark sighed. "i'll help you clean up your room, alright?"
"y-you will...?" donghyuck asked, his sore and bleeding hands trembling. he is not used to mark's sudden kindness just yet, especially after sejun did to him.
"yes, i will- wait, what happened to your hands...?" mark asked, focusing on the bandages worriedly.
"oh, uh...those were m-my escape attempts from him..." donghyuck half-lied in a hopeless tone. even though some of those wounds were actually escape attempts and abuse, most of them were actually self-inflicted.
"it's got to be really hard to clean up the room with your hands then," the older said firmly. "i'll clean up this room for you."
"n-no...it's alright..." donghyuck argued. "i'll do it myself..."
"no, you're hurt and i can't see you work with those wounds all over your hands," mark said even more firmly. "now, have this, while i clean your room."
he handed over the bowl of peanut butter. donghyuck wanted to help his friend clean up the room because he felt ungrateful, but then went back to scooping his comfort food.
mark started from picking up all the clothes scattered over the floor. most of them were too big to fit the tiny figure of the younger, but it didn't look as if the douchebag would wear them either. he went to the attic and threw them into the basket, while noticing the red stains in the clothing below it.
he slowly removed the scattered bandages off the drawers and threw them into a dustbin. noticing that the bandages are almost red because it is saturated with blood, he turned to his friend in concern.
"are your hands actually alright...? those bandages don't look like as if it's doing anything..." he asked the younger.
"uh, y-yes, those bandages were from a week ago, my hands are fine right now," donghyuck said, looking down on himself as he kept on scooping the contents in the bowl.
"i...a-alright..." mark was at a loss for words as he knew it was a blatant lie. "see, donghyuck, you can't just lie that you're fine all the time. it just doesn't work, because i'm not that dumb."
"no! i'm actually fine, i'm not lying at all!" donghyuck tried to fight his way into the argument, but the increasing redness on the bandages of his hands completely dismissed his point.
mark facepalmed as he scoured for a new roll of bandages in one of the drawers, and once he found one, he sat next to his friend. he took his hands and started unwrapping the bandage off of him.
as he expected, it was a deep wound with almost no signs of healing, further increasing his anger towards sejun.
"is this what you meant by 'completely fine', huh?" he said sarcastically as he wound up the new bandage on his hands. "if that's the case, then i'll be doing this all day."
once mark finally wound up the bandage on both his hands, donghyuck went back to scooping his peanut butter again. it was hard for him to use the spoon properly as his hands were tightly wound, maybe a bit too tight.
so, he ended up making a mess on his face, making the older chuckle.
"oh, you silly goose," mark grabbed the spoon from him and wiped his face. donghyuck felt embarrassed, but he let the older take care of him. it felt surreal in a way, that people still care for him.
he looked into mark's eyes as he brought the spoon filled with peanut butter towards his mouth. the distance between them were really less, their noses almost touching.
something about this man was making him feel better in an instant.
"uh...donghyuck...?"
he jolted out of his thoughts and bit the spoon quickly, startling the black haired man. mark continued to feed him, while observing that he was getting happier and happier as each moment passed by.
mark knew what to do now. he is going to protect donghyuck from everything that is bothering him, because he doesn't deserve any of the problems he is suffering. he will make sure he would help him in everything, and maybe, even help him get away from sejun forever.
A/N: sorry that i didn't update yesterday, i had a headache and i thought i was about to die, so, i'm giving you all a double update today because ily all, and also because this chapter was a bit too short.
