Inspired by the Chinese song named "Little Fox" by Ye Li. I recommend you listen to the song above before reading this chapter.

On a grassland in the north of Goryeo, there lived a little fox with red-orange fur.

Every day, the little fox sauntered round the pasture, enjoying the feeling of freedom. Sometimes, when it felt hungry, it searched and hunted the birds that off guard perched upon a rock hidden in the dense grass.

That little fox loved to lie on a sand dune in the middle of the pasture, under the shadow of a big tree. In the daylight, it lay there to bask itself in the warming sun. In the nighttime, it enjoyed the shining light from the moon up above.

One day, while the little fox was sunbathing, it heard the footsteps of someone approaching it. But the fox did not have any idea of opening its eyes to glance at the coming human. It was too tired of being chased by the humans in the hometown that was far away from the grassland.

"Oh, there's a little fox!"

The joyful voice full of excitement caught its attention. It then lazily opened its eyes and looked at where the voice came from. There, it saw a young man in red clothes sitting on a horse, smiling so wide and bright at it.

That was the only moment the little fox found that humans were not too detestable to look at.

"Hi, little fox."

The young man jumped off the horse and tied the rein on a nearby tree. Then he came closer to where the fox was lying and reached his hand with the intention of patting it.

After checking that there were not any weapons or bow and arrows on the man, the fox stayed still on the sand dune, letting the young man do whatever he wanted. It was because the fox knew that man would not ever hurt it. The pureness in his eyes told it.

"Hi, little fox. What are you doing here? I guess you're sunbathing, right?" The cute voice attracted the fox. Its ears made a small move that was hard to notice.

The man's hand stroked along the fox's back. Maybe the warm feeling from the fox's fur after basking under the sun made the man feel relaxed enough to let out a satisfied sigh.

"You have a beautiful coat, little fox."

The fox could not talk but its face became full of self-satisfaction at the man's statement. It knew that there were not any foxes around this area that could be as stunning as it was.

"My name is Kim Junkyu. I'm from the village five miles away from this area. My clan lives there. How about you? You live here, right?"

The fox closed its eyes again at the nonsense question. How could a fox have the thing so-called "home"? Everywhere was its home, it lived somewhere it found interesting. And when that place became boring, it moved to another place.

Only stupid humans stay in one place forever. The fox thought to itself.

"Do you have a name, little fox?"

Here comes another dummy question. The fox turned its face in the opposite direction and rested its head on the front legs.

"I guess you don't. I will give you a name. What do you think about "Bonbon"?"

The fox hissed at the recommended name. Obviously, it did not like that name at all.

"No, it's too childish for a gorgeous fox like you. How about "Jeongwoo"? The "woo" sounds like the way you sound." The man put one of his hands under his chin, acting like he was thinking really hard.
