CHAPTER XI
cheer up
FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME, the team was sat in a plane, once again. They were all supposed to be flying to Iraq in hopes of finding the Domo and Makkari. But, they were also going to take a quick pit-stop at Chicago to bring Phastos along. In the meantime, Aziel was sat in the front of the plane, specifically sitting at a window-seat, which definitely had stunning and relaxing views from above.
But, he was still blaming himself for Gilgamesh's death. Not only that, but he felt incredibly horrible for Thena, which only made him feel even more guilty.
All of a sudden, he heard footsteps approaching him, distracting him from his thoughts.
And, what a surprise. It was Sprite, of course. She looked over at Aziel, concern written upon her face.
Aziel obviously wasn't bothered to talk, covering his face with his hands out of irritation. He sighed underneath his breath, finally letting out a murmur.
"What do you want?" He questioned her.
"I wanted to see if you're alright." Sprite replied.
"Why?"
"Druig and Sersi told me to try and cheer you up."
Aziel fluttered his eyes shut for a few moments. He wanted to just be alone and keep his thoughts to himself for a while. So, he was obviously mad that Druig and Sersi had told Sprite about the whole situation.
"It's none of your business, Sprite." He firmly told.
"Too bad." She said. "They already told me all about it."
As Aziel just huffed in pure disappointment, Sprite took the seat next to him, pulling her knees to her chest once she sat down.
Aziel just ran his fingers throughout his blond and pink coloured hair, rolling his eyes to the sky out of fury.
He glanced around, getting a glimpse of Sersi, who was chatting away to Ikaris. He also saw Druig at the corner of his eye, who had a mischievous look upon his face, like always.
"I hate them for telling you that." He groaned.
"Even if they didn't tell me, I probably would of figured it out, you're my best friend." She snickered. "Just pretend that I'm your therapist and rant away for hours."
Aziel finally gave in. But, before he ranted away, he decided to turn around and sit upside down, like the weirdo he was.
Sprite was immediately influenced by his actions, doing the same as he did, sitting upside down.
"Well, I feel like Gilgamesh's death is all my fault. Secondly, I was dragged out of my apartment to save the world-" He started, interrupting his rant only moments after. "Wait, why did you even drag me into this mess of yours again?"
Sprite rolled her eyes in annoyance, crossing her arms in pure disappointment. She pressed her lips into a thin line before looking over at Aziel.
"To save the world, dumbass." She reminded.
"Right." He continued on. "Well, I-"
But, before Aziel could tell Sprite even more, they were both interrupted by someone.
The duo still weirdly sat upside down, both of them glanced up, only to see Druig.
Druig stood before them, a small smirk dancing on his lips as he looked down at them both. He let out a snicker underneath his breath at the sight of the two sitting upside down.
"What are you even doing?" He questioned.
Aziel nervously looked at Sprite, who didn't seem phased by Druig's question whatsoever. So, he glared back at Druig, searching for an excuse.
"We're sitting upside down." He said.
"Weird." Druig teased.
Whilst admiring Druig for what felt like forever, Aziel could feel himself getting extremely dizzy, to the point where he felt like his head was spinning absolutely everywhere.
He gently placed a hand onto his head, not really knowing why he was feeling dizzy all of a sudden.
"I don't feel so good." He blurted out.
Druig's smirk grew ever so slightly at Aziel's comment. He leaned in closer, lifting Aziel's head up, forcing him to not really sit upside down anymore.
"It's because all the blood is running to your head." He told.
"Forgot about that."
Just as Aziel went back to sitting normally, Sprite couldn't bare herself but to burst out laughing. She pointed at the duo, probably thinking of a snarky joke to come up with.
"I knew it!" She yelled. "Druig is your boyfriend!"
Aziel only thought of Druig as a friend. With benefits. He immediately sprung up from his seat, slamming a hand over Sprite's mouth in order to stop her from blurting out anything else embarrassing.
Still covering Sprite's mouth, Aziel glared over at Druig out of pure embarrassment. He just chuckled awkwardly, not being able to properly function for a moment.
"I- She's just joking, of course." He nervously whispered.
Druig didn't seem to be bothered. Instead, he just grinned. He slowly turned around, letting out a murmur as he began to walk away from the duo.
"I honestly wouldn't mind it, Aziel." He snickered.
Once Druig was out of sight, Aziel steadily removed his hand from Sprite's mouth, a frown now across his lips as he furrowed his eyebrows.
"I want to kill you so bad right now!"
