Chapter 4: Rumors

Derek's POV

Athena left, again. I had no clue if she'd even bother coming back this time. I told her how I felt and she reacted the one way I didn't want her to. I've never been good at relationships, but neither has she.

She used to like me but I told her I wouldn't date her because we're pack members, but when I told her that 2 years ago I didn't expect her to ever be able to use it against me.

I was mad when she left, mad at myself, mad at her, and mad at whoever has her attention now. I called Malia, I lied to her and told her there was something going on with Athena and I. It was messed up on my end but if I can't be happy, neither can Athena.

I knew Malia would react bad and yell at Athena, leaving Athena to have no place to go. At least that's how I thought it all would end.

Malia never hung up the phone, I heard every word of Athena and Malia's conversation, even the ending, the part where Malia said too much, she told Athena about me watching her. Now Athena knows I know what she was doing.

Athena's POV

"Hello? Are you just gonna go silent?" Malia said, breaking the silence I started.

"I'm sorry Malia, I need to go, now."

"You just got back here, you're gonna go ghost again?"

"No, I need to see Scott, like now"

She didn't say anything back, so I got back into my car and drove to Scott's house.

Eventually I arrived and I made my way to his room, I then knocked on his door and he opened it.

"Athena?!" he shouted.

"Look, I missed you and all but that's not what i'm here for, can we talk?" I said, walking into his room.

"Yeah sure, about what?" he asked.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, I then opened my eyes, revealing a dark red color to Scott.

"Wait.. did you- uh did you kill Derek?! I just saw him not too long ago" he asked, silently freaking out.

"No, no, never. When I left, it wasn't easy for me, apparently Derek is an enemy of many people out of town, and I was known for being in Derek's pack. People were trying to kill me left and right, so I defended myself, some people died and some are still out there wandering."

"You killed an alpha?! Athena- does Derek know?" Scott asked

"Apparently he's been watching me, so I am assuming he does, but if he doesn't, I don't know how to tell him."

"I don't even know what to say Athena"

"Come on Mr. true alpha, you have to have something to say" I said, but Scott went silent.

Derek's POV

I heard their conversation, I followed her, again. I have no control over her, no wonder she was talking to me the way she was. No wonder she left.

I wanted to walk in Scott's room and tell her I was sorry, but I know she'd be even more mad at me.

I could text her, that's if she hasn't blocked me. Why have I been feeling this way about her? Ever since the kiss, she's been on my mind nonstop, I hated it. It's like she has something in her that i'm addicted to, but I can't figure out what that thing is.

All I thought to myself was that maybe she'd still come find me after she gets out of school tomorrow, like I asked her to. Maybe she'd come over and she would tell me everything that has happened with her. I would have to act surprised because I already know all of it.

I saw her and Scott talking through the window, her eyes were glowing red for a second and normal the next, she should've came to me, I know more about this.
Athena's POV

Scott was trying to find a way to help, but in all reality, he was clueless on what to say to me. I know I should've gone to Derek about this, but I have pride too, I won't ask Derek a single favor until he fesses up about everything he's done.

"I'll research things tonight, in the meantime, do you need a place to stay tonight? There's a spare bedroom here and you know, we have school tomorrow" Scott asked.

"Actually, that'd be great, i'll go talk to your mom," I said, walking into the kitchen, seeing Miss McCall

"Oh, Miss McCall, you're back from your job a little earlier than usual"

She looked at me and hugged me.

"Athena, I haven't seen you in forever, do you need something?

"I was just going to ask if I could stay for the night, i'll be gone by tomorrow morning."

"Ofcourse, stay as long as you'd like. Just don't sleep with Scott"

"Now miss McCall, you know Scott and I are nothing more than friends" I said, she laughed and walked away into her room. I walked out onto the front porch for some fresh air, but I saw a shadow by the tree.

It couldn't be Derek, right? For all I know, it could've been no one, I could be paranoid, but I still had to go check. I walked over to the tree and it was Derek, I was about to scream or do something to get him away but he covered my mouth and pushed me against the tree.

"You being an alpha should make us enemies, isn't that right?" he said, uncovering my mouth.
