"I'm back", I yelled as I walked into Derek's warehouse.
I hadn't seen Derek in months, which is ironic considering he is the leader of my pack. I expected him to call me and tell me to come back but after I didn't receive a call in the first two months of me being gone, I stopped checking my missed calls and accepted that he could care less about me being gone.
I was thinking to myself, wondering what Derek would even say to me after my disappearance, the least vulgar thing I could imagine was him yelling at me and telling me I shouldn't have left, the most vulgar being him starting a fight or ripping my throat out. Regardless of which it'd be, in his eyes, I'd deserve it.
I stopped thinking to myself when I heard footsteps coming towards me, I looked to the ground, trying to refrain myself from making eye contact with him. I looked down and saw his shadow, he was standing directly in front of the sunlight, leaving there to be nothing for me to see but a dark shadow. I gulped and hoped he wouldn't try and argue, but when he noticed I was nervous, he started walking closer to me, leaving us maybe two feet apart.
"Why? Why come back after leaving for months upon months?" he said, finally speaking up.
His voice was stern, luring me into looking up at him. I expected to look up and see his red eyes and fangs showing, but he didn't look upset at all. Frankly, he looked relieved to see me in a way.
"It's my first day of senior year tomorrow, you really think I was going to miss that?", I said, hoping he'd take it lightly and not with the attitude that wasn't intended.
"You missed everything else these last four months, I wouldn't be surprised if you missed your senior year as well." he retorted.
"Fair enough", I didn't even feel like arguing about the real reason I came back to Beacon Hills, but the look on his face showed he didn't feel the same.
He didn't say anything, the next few minutes after that were silent, yet deafening. My head was full of thoughts as to why he reacted so calmly, I blatantly lied to him and it was obvious.
"we Tell me the real reason you came back, Athena, you want something, don't you?", he asked as if he really couldn't believe I came back and actually wanted to go to school. He was right not to believe me but I didn't know I was that transparent.
He knows I lied to him. Great. Now there's no way I can lie again and make it seem believable. How can he always read me so well? God, I don't even know what to say to him, but I need to say something, quick.
"You. I came back for you." I said, feeling instant regret as soon as the words escaped my lips.
"You coming back for senior year is more believable than that", he said, slightly chuckling.
What the hell, when I tell the truth he doesn't believe me? "You don't have to believe me, but i'm not lying to you, Derek, I actually missed you. Besides, you are the alpha, I was bound to have to come back eventually."
"No. I wouldn't have called. I waited for you to call me everyday, and I never got a call. That's why I refuse to believe you would come back because you "missed" me." he said, subtly rolling his eyes
I could tell he was getting upset, I was just shocked it took as long as it did for him to finally react and get mad. He was about to say something Derek-like and I knew it wouldn't be good. So, before he could speak, I cut him off by doing the one thing that led to why I left Beacon Hills in the first place..
