Chapter 34: Leonard's Brother

Veronica' POV

Leonard gets up from his seat and takes a position near the elevator, since it's private, people who are new to his place are required to pin some passwords for the elevator to run. 

He types some code on the wall security and some voice greets him, it was a male voice and sounded pretty heavy and hoarse from here or maybe his machine has some voice changer.

I got up from the seat and signal him I'm going upstairs to give them some privacy but he instantly refuses and asks me to wait in the living room,

As much as this seemed a little uncomfortable I didn't want to upset him so I obeyed and sat on the couch,

"You changed the codes again?" a thick voice greeted the silent living room, my ears flicking towards the elevator as I try to listen even though its a bad thing to do but I can't help, the voice is really masculine and I don't want to admit but I just got goosebumps all over my body.

Even Leonard's voice didn't give me goosebumps as strong as this one that makes me curious about that person,

"You in the city equals to code changing" Leonard mocks and slowly the voice came closer to the living room, 

Leonard clears his throat and asks me to meet the person who is responsible for all the jitters, I softly put the old magazine I picked up from the coffee table down and stand up turning my face to see him,

You know there are times when I think how come a stranger feels like a person I know from somewhere and even though I don't remember, just seeing him so close, standing near the person whose voice might not have given a goosebumps but is surely responsible for racing heartbeat was nowhere compared to the heart attack I'm getting from the person right now,

"Veronica this is my brother, Samuel" he introduces me to the person who not only is his brother but someone I never, quote the word never expected to meet here, let alone have a relationship with someone who has become my Achilles heel.

"You..." he furrows his eyebrows and tries to maintain his voice from freaking out, well looks like he knows me too, and fuck I don't think Leonard knows yet, so as much as we both were trying to look strangers in front of each other, Leonard already took a hint and wiggles his eyebrow 

"You.....two seem to know each other?" he crossed his arms and fires a glance at me,

I avoid his eyes and look at Samuel asking him if I should tell but he says no through his eyes and by the time we notice Leonard's fireball of jealousy Samuel ends the awkward night by excusing himself for a bath.

He takes the other guest bedroom opposite to Leonard's and left me alone in the living room to deal with him, 

I raised my eyebrows and try to turn away from this atmosphere but it seems like that wasn't his intention.

"So?" he holds my hand and swirls me so that I could face him, "you know my brother?"

"No" I lied, 

He narrowed his eyes and starts to leave with a disappointed look and I hate to let him down so, I'm sorry Samuel for telling Leonard cause even though your voice gave me goosebumps for a little second, this man in front of me gives me a racing heartbeat and a million goosebumps for life, 

So I don't want to lie to him even though it's your business to tell your brother the truth, you did leave me alone to deal with him. 

"Okay wait" I snapped and close my eyes, "I do know your brother"

He stops midway and pauses " from?" 

"Sports? he's a player right?" why am I lying again? I thought I made it clear to tell him the truth,
