The next day, a usual Thursday where I was reading a book seated at the exact same place, Dewei finally came next to me. He was in his wheelchair. I greeted him for him to note I was really at school that day before greeting me back! I can't skip all the lessons as I said but his next question got me by surprise: "Tell me, you know so many things, how can you rank in the middle?". It is to erase me but I didn't tell him that, I joked around instead "maybe I am not that cool". Even though it didn't work because he pointed I had really helped the girl with her maths the other day. I tried saying I knew that particular chapter but he called me a liar for what I thanked him while smiling. He told me, like that, he was happy to see that smile on my face. "Dewei..." I started but I was interrupted by the teacher who starts the lesson. When will I tell him that I am leaving very soon?
At the first halt, Dewei asked me what book I'll read but I had something to do instead. I got up and passed behind his wheelchair, he followed me with his eyes while I was leaving the classroom. Finally arrived at the administration, I wish the same lady than the last time a good morning for her to notice me. She did because she greeted me: "Hi, student" not expecting my next remark: "I want to stop school". "What?" she asked confused. I informed her that starting the next week I was taking correspondence courses. She talked about the procedure, again, my parents had to signal it but I still don't have what I told her before giving her my name again. "You again?" she said, seemingly yes... "Why are you stopping if it's not too private?" she wanted to know but the answer is simple: I was moving. She doesn't seem to understand that choice pointing out it was the end of the year. When she understood I was already aware of it she told me to pass by her office the following day to sign up the documents because she had to make the headmaster sign them first. "No problem! See you tomorrow then," I said as I bowed to her before joining my class to a curious Dewei wondered where I was. My attention was already caught by someone else seated in the front row, someone suspiciously looking at me. What does he want? Why is he looking at me like that? Dewei waves his hand in front of my eyes I grabbed his hand to stop him before smiling. "It recalls me the first time you came to me" I explained. He asked again where I was as I dodged the question by telling him I was thinking even though I know he wondered where I was earlier. "Will you accept to lunch with me?" he asked wholeheartedly. "At the cafeteria?" I wondered. He hummed in response. I should offer him all I can the last days I have so I agreed "Sure.".
I realize once again, I despise delivered food... I was in front of my plate in the cafeteria. "First, don't look at it as it was venom. Two, you should eat before it gets cold" Dewei stated probably having enough of me looking horrified to my plate. "I don't think it will change someth..." I was able to finish my sentence because he has put a fork in my mouth. I took it out before swallowing my food. For sure, I am grimacing right now! "I hate you," I said once my mouth was empty. "No you don't" he stated confidently after what he asked me why I didn't tell him earlier I didn't like the cafeteria's food. In that atmosphere, I could admit to him I wasn't eating fast food either. After he wondered why I told him I only like homemade food which was half of the truth because I enjoyed eating protein and military portions. I did not anticipate his next statement "we could have gone to your house" which made me choke on my food. He gave me a glass of water before adding: "calm down pretty boy. I was thinking about eating normal food". I finally calmed my cough to reply to him I didn't want him to hang out in my district. "Liu..." he started but I refused to let him add anything: "No matter what, tell me you won't go".
"You live here though," he complained.
"I can go as much as you want to your house or any other place but don't come alone"
"Ok".
"Now it's your turn to eat. One last thing, when I will be left..."
He interrupted me at his turn stating he didn't want to hear about that, but I finished by telling him to not come to my house. That makes him state I was acting strange, before using my full name to ask if I knew it. "I am not a social butterfly" that was my only answer. He said even though he has taken note and agreed. Then, ... he kissed me?! Here in the middle of the cafeteria. They were already speaking about us but now it was over. My anonymity has died. Wait! How did he do? I pushed him back to his seat, I mean his wheelchair.. warning him: "your knee". He seemed relieved, apparently, he was afraid it was because of something else. I recalled he has guaranteed me he'll take care of his knee. He put his titled head against his hand, an elbow on the table. It's his habits. He smiled and affirmed he was, before explaining he used his arms strength and his other leg. I smiled. But he must have not been comfortable?
The end of school has finally arrived! Since lunch students were coming at us, it makes Dewei laugh but I don't like this attention. Plus, someone was looking for me so he should not be so exposed. I told Dewei I was going back home but he wonder if I didn't already have finished all I had to do. "Almost," I said. I have to erase every sign I let behind me. "I wanted to be accompanied home by you" he revealed. So I proposed a compromise, I'll go home to take a bag for the next day and some clothes before joining him later. His answer even short had me smiling: "you better come". I assured him I will. He kissed me again. He's too much exposing himself without knowing it.
