The journey was not as easy as they had predicted. They went to different places since Zhang's buildings were scattered all around the country. It was not rare for them to meet other raiders but the experience with them was not always pleasant. Most of them would look at Wu Xie and friends as their enemy who fought for treasures. Some were clever enough to take advantage of their raiding skills. However, the Iron Triangle cared less. Their main priority was to find information about Zhang Qiling's family. If they got some treasures along the adventure, it would be a bonus.

During the long journey, Wu Xie and Qiling never forgot to send letters to their foster fathers regularly, either for updating their progress or asking about the immortals' condition. Xue had been a constant company whenever they missed their fathers. Its actions somehow reflected Zhou Zishu's stern attitude and his scolding even though it couldn't talk but glare and hoot.

After they blindly searched for the buildings without any satisfying result, they finally decided to retrace Zhang Qiling's journey starting from where the first time he was let out to bear the duty as a patriarch. In the middle of their way to another bronze door, they met another Zhangs named Zhang Haixing and her brother, Zhang Haike.

"Wow! His face looks so much like you, Tian Zhen! But a younger version," stated Pangzi, commenting on Haike's appearance.

After hearing that statement, Wu Xie inspected the man's figure more carefully. He gasped when he realized something. "Wait! Was it you who disguised as me before?!"

The man only threw a smile at the accusation before walking towards Qiling—not admitting or denying.

"Hi. Long time no see," greeted him casually, receiving a slight nod from the patriarch.

"Do you know him, Xiao ge?"

"More than 'know'." Haike intercepted smugly. "I met him when he was two."

They went to an inn to talk. It turned out Zhang Haike was Qiling's childhood friend. Pangzi and Wu Xie rejoiced as they finally found someone related to Qiling who might be able to provide internal information about Zhang family's affair.

The man began to recount his first meeting with the overly silent Qiling. Zhang Haike was from the branch family but occasionally went to the main family's building. One day, his family was invited for a New Year's greeting. When Haike came, he saw some children playing together and they bumped into him like he didn't exist. None of them were willing to play with him. He was used to it because it had been common sense within the family that kids from branch families tended to be ignored due to their status. Why were branch families treated like mediocre even though they belonged to the same root? He hated it. He had detested the Zhang family system as well as the main branch's rules and restrictions. It was a good thing that his branch family was more free.

That day, he thought he would get lonely as per usual, but he saw one child with a pale complexion sitting down on a stair. Everyone would recognize instantly that he was from the main family just by looking at his attire. He wondered why that kid who looked no older than two years old didn't bother to play with others and no one asked him to join. At that moment, Haike felt that he finally found his kindred spirit. He walked closer to the boy and greeted him. However, he got nothing in return except a blank stare. No matter what he said, the boy merely nodded and stayed silent. Since then, he didn't meet Qiling again until he was fifteen.
