Golden autumn leaves
Their vibrant hues only show
Upon Death's Doorstep
Life's final hoorah
Before winter's dread mourning
It shivers with frost
Devoid of all life
Reduced from soul to soil
Mixed with the compost
A subtle, chill breeze
Foretells the first touch of snow
Blanket the Earth in white
New scenery comes today,
As the autumn life decays
