3. Second Young Master Lan

Lan Wangji had just arrived at the top of the stairs with a jade token in his hand to enter the gates of Cloud Recess. Just as he was about to however, he felt a pair of eyes pierce him from the back. Although the stare had no killing intent in them, he couldn't help but turn around and see who it was. Lan Wangji saw 2 boys around the same age as him at the stairs, one dressed in black while the other dressed in purple. The one in black was very handsome, with his long black hair tied up by a red ribbon into a disheveled ponytail and snowy white skin which seemed to add to his beauty. His eyes were a warm shade of silver and his lips were a shade of soft pink. The boy in black seemed to be in awe of something Lan Wangji wasn't aware of, for his mouth was wide open. Although he looked lean, Lan Wangji could say the boy was strong.

The one in purple however seemed to be somewhat lacking in front of the one in black. Although he was good-looking in his own way, he really couldn't compare to the one standing next to him. Lan Wangji's eyes moved back to the boy in black who continued staring at him. His eyes suddenly went wide and bowed down to Lan Wangji, which he took as an apology and gently nodded before turning back to the guard. Suddenly he heard a loud slap and an angry shout from behind him. Lan Wangji turned around again only to find the boy in black rub the back of his head while the one in purple glared at him, making the boy in black glare back at him. The boy in purple seemed quite angry at the boy in black and looked like he wanted to shout at him. Although Lan Wangji didn't exactly know the reason why they were so angry, he couldn't let a fight break out since it was forbidden in the Cloud Recess. Hence, making up his mind, Lan Wangji walked towards the pair.

Wei Wuxian glared at Jiang Cheng. Just what had he done to get hit? It's not like he had any hidden intention to tease or harm the boy. He only looked at him because, for some unknown reason, the boy reminded him of his parents. "What the hell was that for?!" Wei Wuxian asked him angrily as he glared at Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng seemed taken aback and stared at him. At that particular moment, the 2 boys felt someone approach them and turned around, only to find the boy in white standing in front of them.

Now that the boy was even closer to him, Wei Wuxian really felt breathless. He was even more handsome up close, like he was carved out of a fine piece of jade. He breathed in before bowing down to the boy again. "Young Master, my apologies for our behavior earlier. Please excuse me and my friend. We really didn't mean to cause any trouble." Wei Wuxian said politely, hoping to save himself and Jiang Cheng. "It's alright. Young Master, may I know who you are?" The boy asked him. "I'm Wei Ying, courtesy name: Wuxian and this is my friend Jiang Cheng, courtesy name: Wanyin of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan. We have come to study here." Wei Wuxian replied. The boy bowed back to them. "It is an honor to meet you Wei Wuxian. I am Lan Zhan, courtesy name: Wangji of the Gusu Lan Clan." The boy said, making Wei Wuxian quite startled. The boy in front of him was none other than Lan Wangji of the Twin Jades of Gusu. "It is an honour to meet you, Hanguang-jun." Jiang Cheng said with a smile. Lan Wangji nodded and his eyes travelled back to Wei Wuxian one last time before turning around and climbing up the stairs to enter The Cloud Recess.

Wei Wuxian smiled, for he finally got to know the boy's name, Lan Wangji. He hoped he would be able to be good friends with Lan Zhan.
