Wei Wuxian kept rowing fast for a while before he let the current carry him wherever it was going. To his bad luck, it started raining and it soon became a downpour. "Why now? Please don't flood." Wei Wuxian said out loud. However, his prayer was unanswered. The river sped rapidly, making it impossible for him to fight against the current. Trying to balance himself, Wei Wuxian holds onto the sides of the boat. His hair got plastered to his face, his robe sticking on him. The boat kept rocking back and forth, sideways almost throwing the boy off the boat.

The current picked up it's pace, hurling Wei Wuxian out of the boat. The boy shot up high in the sky with the force, before falling back into the river. Wei Wuxian swam to the surface and got out for air. Noticing a plank from the boat coming his way, Wei Wuxian instantly held onto the plank as if his life depended on it. The water current kept getting worse, half drowning the young lad. Wei Wuxian coughed out a mouthful of water and tightly held onto the plank.

The current kept on carrying him. Wei Wuxian didn't know, neither did he care where he was going. He just wanted to get as far away as possible from The Lotus Pier. If only. If only his parents didn't die. If only he wasn't engaged to Jiang Cheng. Wei Wuxian wondered how his life would've been if these didn't happen.

The wind kept hitting him, making his body ice cold. The boy in black shivered, his whole body numb. However, he didn't dare let go of the plank he was holding onto. After being tossed for almost the whole night, Wei Wuxian finally lost all his strength, barely holding onto the plank. He started shivering from cold due to being drenched from head to toe. Feeling tired and exhausted, he slowly closed his eyes and fainted.

The next morning, Lan Wangji woke up at five in the morning like any other member of The Gusu Lan clan. At breakfast, he heard his uncle and brother discuss about the recent events happening in the town and how they suspect the storm yesterday could actually be The Waterborne Abyss. Although unlikely, it is quite possible.

"Wangji, after breakfast I'm going to the town to investigate. Will you come?" Lan Xichen asked his younger brother, making him nod. And so, after their breakfast was over, The Twin Jades of Gusu set out to the Caiyi Town to investigate. "Uncle said the storm mostly happened here. But it's strange, I can't feel any resentful energy here." Lan Xichen said.

"There are'nt any bodies either. Could yesterday's storm have been a normal one after all?" Lan Xichen asked again. "Brother look." Lan Wangji pointed at a body floating on the water while barely holding onto a plank. "Is that... Young Master Wei?" Lan Xichen's eyes widened. Lan Wangji flew towards the body on his sword and grabbed Wei Wuxian's robe, pulling him up.

After landing on the ground, Lan Wangji tried shaking Wei Wuxian, hoping to wake him up. "Wangji, take him to The Cloud Recess now." Lan Xichen said. Lan Wangji nodded and carried Wei Wuxian back to The Cloud Recess.
