IX - Doubts

I can't understand him, Soyoung-ah. Earlier, he left me all alone in the restaurant. He seems to be distracted by something. Lately, he's been extra moody and unfocused. I mean I know he's naturally quite calm and cold as a person but he's getting even colder these days. I really can't understand him!

Hyemi groaned in frustration as she talked to her best friend about what just happened to her and Seokhoon earlier in their supposed lunch date at the restaurant.

She never expected Seokhoon to walk on her and their date just like that. Although she have noticed how dazed, unfocused, and uninterested her fiancé was, she never anticipated Seokhoon to become this distant and cold from her.

Girl, don't you think your boyfriend is cheating on you? Look, if he truly loves you, there's no way on earth he'll be acting like this! I don't know why you're still sticking with that guy. He doesn't even treat you right!

Soyoung said while rolling her eyes and sighing in frustration.

I love him, Soyoung-ah. I love him very much that I think I won't be able to handle it if I lose him. I know it was me who asked him to date me and it was also me who proposed to him but if he doesn't love me, he won't accept me to become a part of his life, right?

Soyoung couldn't believe how stupid her best friend became because of her love for a man who doesn't love her back. Hyemi has always been the smarter one between the two of them but seeing how she justifies her fiancé's so-called love for her, she can't help but think twice.

Girl, if he loved you, shouldn't it be him who took the initiative to ask you out or propose to you? Why do you keep on trampling your dignity over a man like him? He doesn't deserve you and your love, Hyemi-ah. You're beautiful, kind, smart, and tich! There are a lot of boys who would gladly do everything just to catch your heart and attention but I don't know why you have chosen to settle with someone who disregards you and treats you badly. This is not how things should be for both of you.

Letting out a sad smile, Hyemi looked at her best friend and simply replied

I've chosen him because I love him. I know you can't understand things like this yet but when you genuinely fall for a person, you'll become stupid.

Sipping on her iced tea, Soyoung just shrugged her shoulders and chuckled a little.

Seeing you like this convinced me even more not to invest in serious romantic relationships. Don't worry about me. I'm contented with having fun with my flings. No attachments, no commitments. Just fun.

Hyemi just shook her head at her best friend's statement. Knowing how wild and liberated Soyoung is, she knows that there's nothing she can do right now to make her understand what it feels like to fall in love with someone. Maybe, when the right person comes, she will understand why she is this willing to sacrifice for the person she loves.

Before she could even reply to Soyoung, Hyemi's eyes caught the sight of a familiar tall, slender, model-like woman who just entered the café she and Soyoung were currently in.

Intently staring to figure out who she was, Hyemi couldn't help but think.

This woman is so familiar. Who is she?

After a few moments, the woman removed her sunglasses and her eyes widened when she recognized who it was.

It was her fiancé's twin sister, Joo Seokkyung.

Joo Seokkyung? Wait, she's here? I thought she was currently in LA.

Hyemi knew Seokkyung since, like her, Seokkyung is also a famous model. She met her several times during family dinners or events but compared to Seokhoon, Seokkyung is even colder and distant to her. What made her even more intimidated by Joo Seokkyung was the sassiness and powerful aura that she has always emitted.
